County Administrative Board of Skåne is hiring seasonal staff for the Nature Conservation Unit

The County Administrative Board of Skåne is a government agency at the regional level responsible for state administration in the county. We work to ensure that national goals are implemented in the county based on regional conditions. Within our assignments, we work with advice, permits and supervision, plans and strategies. We manage natural areas and distribute financial support. We collaborate with stakeholders throughout the county.

We have approximately 600 employees and offices in Malmö and Kristianstad.

Description

The County Administrative Board is looking for at least four seasonal staff for the Nature Conservation Unit in the Department of Nature and Water.

Your workplace will be at the nature center located in Stenshuvud National Park. The employment is a seasonal position until November 30. During spring and autumn, you will work weekends and occasional weekdays. During the summer, the workload increases but does not reach full-time. Start date in March or as agreed.

Stenshuvud is located on Österlen, near Kivik, and is Sweden's southernmost national park as well as one of the most species-rich and diverse national parks. The area and its nature attract up to half a million visitors annually, which places high demands on facilities, service, and information. The national park management is responsible for the maintenance of land and outdoor facilities, such as rest areas and hiking trails.

The nature center Stenshuvud has overall responsibility for nature information in the area. Here, visitors gain knowledge and engagement for the valuable nature as well as tips on attractions and hiking suggestions. Our goal is to spark visitors' interest in nature and to be the obvious place for meeting people who want to learn more about nature, outdoor life, and environmental issues. Our guiding principles are “accessible, inspiring, and welcoming”.

The County Administrative Board of Skåne manages both the national park and the nature center.

Responsibilities

As a nature guide at the nature center Stenshuvud, you will have the following responsibilities:

• To staff the information desk at the nature center, welcome and inform visitors about the national park and nearby natural areas.
• To lead nature tours for adults and children in the national park and at the nature center.
• To participate in dramatized presentations for children.
• Preparation of simpler informational materials.
• Cleaning: in the nature center, litter picking outdoors, cleaning toilets, and outdoor life facilities.
• Supervision regarding compliance with regulations.

Solo work occurs with full responsibility for opening and closing.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who studies/has studied natural sciences at university/college or has equivalent knowledge acquired in working life.

• You have good knowledge of ecology, nature conservation, and Sweden's various animal and plant species.
• You have good language skills in Swedish and English.
• A driving license (B) is required.

Meritorious:

• Work experience in guiding/children's groups and nature conservation.
• Experience in storytelling, theater, or similar.
• Knowledge of German and Danish, or other languages.

As a person, you are service-oriented and proactive while having a sense of order and the ability to work independently. In your role as a nature guide, you meet many people, so it is essential that you are good at collaborating, outgoing, and feel comfortable communicating in front of groups.

Security Classification

The County Administrative Board has an important coordinating role in societal disturbances, and therefore we place high demands on our employees' security and confidentiality awareness. Some of our positions are security classified and may also involve military placement at the agency, which means that a security review must be conducted before a hiring decision is made. In some cases, Swedish citizenship is required in accordance with the Security Protection Act (2018:585).
