Job Responsibilities

In the new district Embassy of Sharing in the prime location of Hyllie, the Culture Administration of Malmö City will establish a completely new cultural operation with a special focus on youth - Kulturfyren. Here, Malmö residents will be able to participate in and create culture in various forms.

We are now looking for a project manager to develop, establish, and realize the concept of Speakers Corner at the Dawit Isaak Library, the unit for Documentation and Freedom of Expression. The project aims to promote reading and literature by making banned books, endangered culture, and a program that enhances artistic freedom accessible. You will create the program in collaboration with the target group and other relevant actors.

The Dawit Isaak Speakers Corner is intended to be an arena for promoting free opinion formation and a forum for free speech. As a project manager, you will be responsible for the project in all its phases.

During the first part of 2025, the concept will be developed in dialogue with young people and other actors in the local area. Based on this, a program will be tested in the autumn of 2025.

Additionally, you will conduct educational tours for middle and high school classes. This promotes a continuous dialogue with the target group. The class tours at the Dawit Isaak Library aim to increase and raise interest in banned literature and endangered culture.

Please note that some working hours will also be scheduled during evenings and certain weekends.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with a university degree of at least 180 credits in pedagogy, social or culture-oriented subjects, library education, or other education that we assess as equivalent and relevant for the position.

We want you to have several years of experience and interest in working directly with the target group of young people and young adults, preferably in school or library environments, and that you have worked on projects. It is of great importance that you have an interest in literature, literature promotion initiatives, and culture. Additionally, you should be well acquainted with our work at the world's first freedom of expression library, Dawit Isaak Library.

Great emphasis is placed on personal qualities. We are looking for someone who sees collaboration and cooperation with others as the natural way to work to create added value, both with actors within and outside the organization. You are engaged in issues of human rights, free speech, and free art.
