Training Officer Command Platoon

We are now looking for a Training Officer for the Command Platoon at Västernorrland Regiment with Jämtland Field Ranger Corps, I 21.

The Position Offers

We are looking for someone who is flexible, solution-oriented, and who wants to be part of the development of future Norrland infantry units. We will offer you opportunities to develop with exciting tasks, initially under provisional conditions.

About the Unit

The Basic Training Battalion Ångermanland Infantry Battalion (Infbat) at I 21 in Sollefteå trains conscripts for several different combat units. The battalion was established in 2024 and is conducting its first training year with around 100 conscripts. Before the intake in 2025, the number of conscripts will nearly double, and the battalion will establish its second Basic Training Company, the Functional Company, alongside the existing Norrland Rifle Company. Starting in 2025, Infbat will also begin training Command Platoons.

Main Responsibilities

As a training officer in the Functional Company's Command Platoon, you will be responsible for planning and conducting training for the platoon's conscripts together with other officers in the platoon. The platoon trains 25-35 conscripts annually. As an instructor, you may lead as a combat platoon commander or in other positions within the command function.

As an instructor, you can also participate in the development of future Norrland infantry units by being part of certain experimental activities regarding the command function at the battalions.

Qualifications

Requirements

• Professional officer OF1 or alternatively OR6/7
• Previous experience of working within the Armed Forces
• Driver's license B

Desirable

• Background from command or ground combat units.
• Experience from a similar position.

You have a high security awareness, are meticulous and flexible, which enables you to change pace when required and work under provisional conditions. You have the ability to work independently and can see the whole picture in our organization. You are compliant with decisions made and are willing to make decisions when the position requires it.

Employment type: Permanent employment as a professional officer. The Armed Forces applies a six-month probationary period for those who are not already employed by the authority.

Employment rate: Full-time
Working hours: Flexible working hours within certain frameworks apply. The position involves travel and training at other locations, and participation in exercise activities may result in absence and work being conducted outside regular working hours.
Individual salary applies in the Armed Forces.

In 2022, Västernorrland Regiment with Jämtland Field Ranger Corps, I 21 was re-established. A new regiment, but with centuries-old traditions in both Västernorrland and Jämtland. With us, you have the opportunity to be part of something unique, the re-establishment of a regiment in Lower Norrland.

I 21 is responsible for the establishment of three combat units – two independent Norrland rifle battalions and Military Base Sollefteå. I 21 currently has operations in Sollefteå, Östersund, and Härnösand.

In Sollefteå, we have Anundsjö Infantry Battalion and the regimental staff, in Östersund is Jämtland Field Ranger Corps. Additionally, there is a garrison support unit with, for example, training and shooting ranges, defense health, and a readiness protection force, IBSS.
