Training Officer Mortar Platoon

We are now looking for a Training Officer for the Mortar Platoon at the Västerbotten Regiment with the Jämtland Field Ranger Corps, I 21.

About the Unit

The Basic Training Battalion Ångermanland Infantry Battalion (Infbat) at I21 in Sollefteå trains conscripts for several different combat units. The battalion was established in 2024 and is conducting its first training year with around 100 conscripts. Before the intake in 2025, the number of conscripts will nearly double, and the battalion will establish its second Basic Training Company, the Functional Company alongside the existing Norrland Rifle Company. The Mortar Platoon has been trained since the training year 24/25 and will continue to be trained every training year.

Main Responsibilities

You will be the training officer for the Mortar Platoon at the Ångermanland Infantry Battalion in Sollefteå. You will plan and conduct training for the platoon's conscripts together with the other professional officers in the platoon and company. The platoon trains 35-45 conscripts annually. You have the opportunity to lead as a platoon commander or in company management or in another position within the combat function.

As a training officer in the Mortar Platoon, you will continuously participate in the development of the combat function for future Norrland rifle units. This may involve being responsible for certain experimental activities regarding materials such as UAVs/drones and combat control.

Requirements

• Officer OF1 or Specialist Officer OR6/7
• Previous experience working within the Armed Forces
• Driver's license B

• Background from ground combat units.
• Experience from similar positions.

You have a high safety awareness, are meticulous and flexible, which means you can adjust your pace when required and can work under provisional conditions. You have the ability to work independently and can see the whole in our organization. You are compliant with decisions made and are willing to make decisions when the position requires it. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability during recruitment.

Employment type: Permanent employment as a professional officer. The Armed Forces applies a six-month probationary period for those who are not already employed by the authority.

Employment rate: Full-time
Working hours: Flexible working hours within certain frameworks apply. The position entails travel and training at other locations, and participation in exercise activities may result in absence and work being conducted at times other than regular working hours.

The Armed Forces is set to grow, and we now need you on our team. The Parliament has decided to re-establish six new units, where the Västerbotten Regiment with the Jämtland Field Ranger Corps (I 21) is one of them. The unit will operate in two locations, Sollefteå and Östersund, and will be responsible for training and maintaining two infantry battalions and a military base. I 19 supports the establishment, and now we are hiring personnel for I 21.
