About the Unit

The Basic Training Battalion Ångermanland Infantry Battalion (Infbat) at I 21 in Sollefteå trains conscripts for several of the army's combat units. The battalion was established in 2024 and is conducting its first year of training with around 100 conscripts. Before the intake in 2025, the number of conscripts will nearly double, and the battalion will establish its second Basic Training Company, the Functional Company alongside the existing Norrland Rifle Company.

Main Responsibilities

As the deputy commander of the Functional Company at Ångermanland Infantry Battalion, you will support the company commander in leading the company. The company will eventually train over 150 soldiers annually distributed among functional platoons for the combat organization's Staff/Grk companies and Supply companies. Other functional platoons may also be trained at the company. During the training year 25/26, the company will train around 100 conscripts. You may serve as a combat company commander or in another position in consultation with your supervisor. Furthermore, you are planned to serve in the future as a company commander, section chief in the battalion staff, or in the regiment staff, alternatively at central staffs.

You will also continuously participate in the development of future Norrland infantry units and be responsible for any experimental activities at the company.

Qualifications

Requirements

• Officer's degree, OF1/OF2 or OR7
• Previous experience working within the Armed Forces
• Driver's license B

Meritorious

• Background from ground combat units, command units, or logistics units.
• Service as a platoon leader.
• Service in company leadership.

You have the ability to work independently and see the whole in our organization. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability in the recruitment process.

Employment type: Permanent employment as a professional officer. The Armed Forces applies a six-month probationary period for those who are not already employed by the authority.

Working hours: Flexible working hours within certain frameworks apply. The position involves travel for work and training at other locations, and participation in exercise activities may result in absence and that work is conducted at times other than regular working hours.

The Armed Forces is set to grow, and we need you on our team. The Parliament has decided to re-establish six new units, of which Västernorrland Regiment with Jämtland Field Ranger Corps (I 21) is one. The unit will operate in two locations, Sollefteå and Östersund, and will be responsible for training and maintaining two infantry battalions and a military base. I 19 supports the establishment, and now we are hiring personnel for I 21.
