About the role As a Senior or Lead Backend Engineer, you will be a key person in a small, technology-heavy team. You will be responsible for driving the architecture forward, improving code quality, and coaching other developers in the team. The role is a combination of strategic thinking, technical depth, and practical leadership.

You will work closely with the CTO and product owners and be involved in the entire chain – from requirements and design to implementation, code reviews, and delivery. You will set standards for how we build distributed systems that are robust, scalable, and prepared for real-time data.

Your focus areas:

• Design and further development of cloud infrastructure and backend solutions

• Improve scalability and performance in distributed systems

• Ensure quality and maintainability in the codebase

• Lead technical discussions, evaluate new tools and design patterns

• Coaching and mentoring of junior and mid-level developers

• Contribute to planning together with product and stakeholders

We believe you have:

• Deep experience with .NET (C#) and container-based environments with Kubernetes

• Solid understanding of distributed systems, microservice architecture, and cloud-native principles

• Familiarity with real-time data, streaming data, and event-driven solutions (Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar)

• Confidence in translating technical challenges into concrete action plans

• A desire to coach other developers and contribute to the team’s long-term skill enhancement

• The ability to balance short-term deliveries with long-term technical health

Extra plus:

• IoT architecture and data collection from unreliable or unpredictable sources

• Experience with gRPC, protobuf, modern communication patterns

• Basic understanding of wireless protocols (LoRaWAN, NB-IoT, LTE-M)

• Infrastructure as code and automated deployment pipelines

Location: Hybrid – we prefer you to be based in Stockholm, but flexible working arrangements are standard.
