Fire Department

The Fire Department works to ensure that Norrtälje is a safe and secure municipality for all residents, even under difficult conditions. We are on call around the clock at our five fire stations in Blidö, Norrtälje, Hallstavik, Rimbo, and Älmsta.

Our mission is complex, and we work both preventively and in damage control. The preventive mission includes providing information, advice, and guidance to residents as well as training students and employees in the municipality. The Fire Department is responsible for supervision regarding fire protection, as well as permit and supervision matters regarding the handling of flammable and explosive goods. We conduct fire protection inspections in-house and are responsible for chimney sweeping carried out by a contracted entrepreneur.

The damage control activities include rescue operations in fires, accidents, spills of environmentally hazardous substances, and other accidents. We collaborate with 12 other fire department organizations in the Eastern Svealand Rescue Region.

About the Position

We are now looking for firefighters in Norrtälje. As a firefighter, you will be part of one of our four shift teams in Norrtälje's full-time force, with your team leader as the closest supervisor. The shift team also includes a relieving team leader and 7 firefighters. You are available for emergency response in the damage control activities where we collaborate with many other actors.

In addition to emergency responses, a workday consists of daily routines, training, physical exercise, and other tasks within the fire department where you contribute with your expertise.

The employment begins with an introduction where you learn about the organization's working methods and routines to be prepared and safe in your position.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who is committed and shares the municipality's values naturally. A service-oriented mindset and good interpersonal skills are abilities you possess. Practical skills and good physical condition are important in the position.

You have firefighting training and a C driver's license.

As the work is complex, we would like you to describe your skills and experience with a broad perspective, as our differences make us strong together.
