Personal Assistants for Östersund Municipality

Do you want a job where you can make a difference and have fun at the same time? Welcome to Östersund Municipality! We are an organization with big visions and our hearts in the right place. Currently, we are looking for two personal assistants to join our pool who want to contribute to a better and more inclusive society.

About the job

As a personal assistant in our pool, you will work to support individuals with disabilities in their daily lives. You offer support and assistance to our citizens, contributing to their quality of life and independence. We currently have 14 citizens with personal assistance, ranging in age from approximately 4 to 80 years old and with various disabilities. Your tasks will vary depending on who you work with, from assisting with daily activities to accompanying them on outings. Working hours vary depending on the individual you are assisting and include day shifts, evening shifts, sleepover shifts, weekends, and full-day shifts. As a team member in our pool, you will have the opportunity to schedule your own shifts and receive a salary supplement. We are looking for someone who has a passion for people, is flexible, and can adapt to different situations without losing their temper. Variety is our middle name!

Common tasks

  • Personal care and support. You contribute to the individual's social, emotional, and physical well-being
  • Being a reliable communication link between the citizen and the surroundings
  • Participating in and organizing social activities and outings
  • Following the individual implementation plans that the citizens have
  • Documenting work digitally (yes, you need some computer skills)
  • Collaborating with colleagues, relatives, and professionals to ensure the best possible support

Your skills

Requirements

  • Experience working with people
  • Excellent command of Swedish, both spoken and written
  • Driver's license (B) and access to your own car

Merits

  • Educational background as a nursing assistant or support assistant – but if you have other relevant experience, feel free to apply!
  • Understanding and experience of working with people with disabilities - perhaps you have experience as a personal assistant or in healthcare?
  • Experience with digital documentation

We are looking for you

We are looking for a confident and stable person who wants to make everyday life easier for others. As a personal assistant in the pool, you need to be flexible and able to adapt to changing circumstances. You will mainly work independently with the citizen, so you need to take responsibility for your tasks. In this role, it is positive if you are proactive in organizing activities.

You will collaborate with different teams, citizens, their relatives, and other professionals. Therefore, you need to be good at working with others and communicate in a sensitive manner. Building and maintaining relationships is also something you excel at. You must have the ability to understand and be responsive to the citizen's perspective and situation, and act in accordance with what has been agreed upon. You know where the line is between being personal and private while maintaining a professional attitude towards the citizen. When stressful situations arise, you remain calm.

Other

As work with children is involved, a criminal record extract must be provided.

Probationary employment may be applied.

Recruitment process

Interviews may be conducted on an ongoing basis. We ask that you attach your CV and a personal letter to your application. Grades/certificates do not need to be sent initially but will be requested if an interview is scheduled.
