Support Assistants/Support Persons for 24-hour Facilities in Östersund

The disability sector is now looking for several support assistants/support persons for two 24-hour facilities in Östersund. One established facility and one newly started facility.

The facilities function as seven-day residential homes, each housing one citizen. The aim is to create a home-like environment and provide safe, secure, and stable care for the citizens. The staff work to provide care, create structure, and act pedagogically to help the children grow and work towards independence. Working hours include day, evening, and night shifts, both on weekdays and weekends.

We are looking for:

• 1-2 Permanent positions 80%, starting from February
• 6 Permanent positions 80-90%, starting soon, or as agreed
• 2 Substitutes for 3-6 months 80-90%, starting soon or as agreed
• We are also looking for substitutes for our other children's facilities. Please specify in your application which positions you are interested in.

Job Responsibilities

The goal of our operations is to create a safe and predictable environment for the citizens through clear communication and individually tailored support in all daily activities. You will work based on an implementation plan established for the citizen and be part of a team where cooperation and clear communication are valued. Your tasks include daily chores such as cleaning, cooking, and personal hygiene. Play and other pedagogical activities are also an important part of the work and take place both indoors and outdoors, regardless of the weather. Therefore, it is important that you have good physical ability and can handle activities like long walks. A car is available at the facility for outings. A key part of the work is to remain calm during outwardly challenging behaviors and redirect to other activities. A significant part of the staff's work also involves maintaining the structure determined to make everyday life as predictable as possible. Ongoing documentation in the Viva journal system is also part of the daily work.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who can build trust through predictability and consistency in behavior. You have good teamwork skills and can empathize with others' ways of thinking, while being secure enough to let others act. You are responsible, flexible, and able to provide security and structure for children with special needs. You need to be prepared to follow decisions and guidelines, work under pressure, and remain calm even in stressful situations. A calm and respectful approach is crucial, and you enjoy working closely in a team. Personal suitability will be given great importance.

Requirements:

• Experience working with people with disabilities.
• Driver's license (B).
• Computer literacy.
• Proficient in the Swedish language in speech, reading, and writing.
• Physical ability to actively participate in games, walks, and other physical activities.

Desirable:

It is advantageous if you also have any of the following experiences or skills:

• Experience working with children.
• Experience working with individuals with autism or other neuropsychiatric disabilities.
• Experience in educational activities or other relevant experience deemed equivalent by the employer.
• Knowledge and experience of working with a low-arousal approach.
• Experience with alternative and augmentative communication (AAC).
• Experience in social journaling.
• Experience with challenging behaviors.

Other
