At the Department of Economics, approximately 65 employees work in the fields of business administration, economics, and law.
The research at the department focuses on marketing, leadership and organization, accounting, law, and economics, where we work thematically both within and across subject boundaries.
The Department of Economics hereby announces a PhD position (240 credits) with the final goal of a doctoral degree in the field of law: civil law and social law.
Job Responsibilities
The position is a doctoral student position in law: civil law and social law. The person admitted to the study place will spend eight years at a study pace of 50% writing a scientific compilation thesis corresponding to 180 higher education credits and completing courses of at least 60 higher education credits. The position includes continuous participation in academic activities such as seminars and meetings. Most of the work is expected to be performed on-site at Högskolan i Gävle.
Project Description
The doctoral position is established as part of the research project Children's Right to Housing Due to Violence in Close Relationships. The project examines, from social law and tenancy law perspectives, children's opportunities and rights to secure housing, as well as the rights of the vulnerable parent to take over the shared residence in cases where a close relative has committed serious crimes.
The research project is part of the strategic research area Health-Promoting Work and the research program Crime and Social Harms. The doctoral student will be part of an interdisciplinary research environment together with doctoral students from Law, Business Administration, and Social Work at Högskolan i Gävle and Örebro University.
Qualifications
Basic eligibility for doctoral education is granted to those who have obtained a degree at the advanced level, or completed course requirements of at least 240 credits, of which at least 60 credits at the advanced level, or in some other way acquired substantially equivalent knowledge within or outside the country.
Specific eligibility for admission to doctoral education in law is granted to those who have either a law degree, a bachelor’s degree in law, or a degree from a law program in their higher education.
Experience in previous research-related work within domestic violence, social law projects, or similar is meritorious.
In addition to basic and specific eligibility, the applicant must possess the skills necessary to benefit from the education. The job responsibilities require a well-developed ability to work independently and collaboratively in teams, as well as a good ability to express oneself in Swedish and English, both orally and in writing.
