Job Responsibilities

As a university lecturer at MDU, your main responsibilities will be teaching. Teaching also includes supervision, examination, course evaluation, and course development. Here, research and education are closely intertwined, and research forms the basis for our education. Collaboration is also an integral part of our research and educational mission, and as a university lecturer, you actively contribute to the university's development work. Your tasks will also include general administration and professional development, as well as participating in the daily operations of the subject and the academy.

For this position, tasks will include teaching, course development, supervision, and examination in courses related to computer vision and AI at all levels. Research primarily in machine vision but also in adjacent areas. Collaboration with industry and society regarding the subject area.

As a PhD, you are expected to actively contribute to applications for research funding. Furthermore, you are expected to actively work for the expansion of research in your field.

Eligibility Requirements

We are looking for someone who has demonstrated pedagogical skill and has obtained a doctoral degree or has equivalent scientific competence.

The scientific and pedagogical competence must be documented in such a way that the quality of previous work can be assessed.

To be employed as a teacher at MDU, higher education pedagogical training or equivalent knowledge is required. Those who are employed but lack higher education pedagogical training will be offered to undergo such training within two and a half years of employment. The higher education pedagogical training at Mälardalen University corresponds to ten weeks of training.

For this position, the following eligibility requirements apply in addition to those established in the Employment Regulations at MDU:

• Doctoral degree in computer science or electronics
• You should have broad experience in implementing vision and AI solutions in embedded systems, including heterogeneous systems
• Documented knowledge in FPGA vision solutions through VHDL and AI algorithms is required
• Furthermore, documented knowledge in advanced signal processing on parallel systems is required
• Practical experience with camera systems and data collection is required
• You should have good oral and written communication skills in Swedish and English at the level required to perform regular tasks in research, teaching, and administration

Assessment Criteria

As assessment criteria, both the degree of skill required for the position and the ability and suitability otherwise required to perform the tasks well will apply.

In addition to the assessment criteria established in the Employment Regulations at MDU, special emphasis will be placed on the following for this position:

• Experience in writing and/or being granted funding is highly meritorious
• Documented experience in system development, hardware-near programming, Linux, ROS, and related drivers/communication standards is highly meritorious
• Experience in course development and supervision of doctoral students is highly meritorious
• Higher education pedagogical merits and program responsibility are meritorious
• Knowledge in electronics is meritorious
