A full-time doctoral position is attached to the educational program, which corresponds to four years.

Job Responsibilities

Mälardalen University intends to hire a PhD candidate in Business Administration at the Department of Organization and Management. The PhD candidate will participate in the Horizon-funded TechConnect project to conduct empirical studies on human-machine complementarity. The candidate is expected to contribute to the project but will also, with increasing independence over time, develop their own research. The candidate will also be affiliated with the Center for Welfare Change.

The candidate is expected to take preparatory courses for doctoral studies in accordance with the General Study Plan in Business Administration.

The candidate is expected to teach or be responsible for administrative tasks corresponding to about 20% per year.

The candidate is expected to contribute to the department's, DIGMA group's, IEOs, and the Center for Welfare Change's activities, thus contributing to realizing MDU's vision of being a progressive and collaborative university, where we together shape a sustainable future and contribute to the development and exchange of knowledge to meet today's and future societal challenges.

Eligibility Requirements

For basic eligibility for doctoral education, one of the following is required:

  • degree at an advanced level
  • at least 240 higher education credits, of which at least 60 at an advanced level
  • otherwise, acquired equivalent knowledge in Sweden or abroad.

To be admitted to doctoral education in Business Administration, the candidate must have successfully completed courses in the subject of Business Administration, or equivalent, totaling at least 90 higher education credits, including an independent project of at least 15 higher education credits.

Since the research will be conducted in organizations in Sweden, the applicant is expected to have very good skills in the Swedish language, both spoken and written. Very good skills in communicating in English, both spoken and written, are also required as the work will take place in an international project.

Assessment Criteria

A fundamental assessment criterion is the ability to benefit from education at the doctoral level.

For this position, particular emphasis will be placed on experience in research-related tasks beyond the master's degree.
