Bandhagens School is now seeking an experienced and skilled teaching assistant for our adapted primary school program.

The position is a temporary part-time role at 50%, 4 hours a day from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM.

The school has approximately 510 students and around 110 staff. We welcome students from preschool class to grade 6 in primary school. We also accept students from grade 1 to grade 6 in adapted primary school as well as preschool students who are being prepared for adapted primary school. We have after-school care for grades F–3 and F–6 adapted primary school, and we offer a leisure club for grades 4–6. Bandhagens School is located in an area of Bandhagen, which offers alternative working methods as we are close to natural areas and a park with animals. We offer

Your role

As a teaching assistant in our adapted primary school, you support students throughout the school day and perform various tasks in learning situations with the student under the guidance and instructions of teachers. The work involves being with the students throughout the day, both during school hours and during after-school care/ supervision time. You will collaborate with teaching assistants, childcare workers, after-school teachers, teachers, the student health team, and other staff at the school. The work aims to help students develop as much as possible, based on their own conditions, in accordance with the educational goals.

Your qualifications and experience

We are looking for someone who has good experience working as a teaching assistant in adapted primary school, teaching assistant training, childcare education, a 3-year high school degree in child and youth studies, preferably with additional training for children with special needs (1.5 years) or other experience deemed relevant by the employer for the position.

You should have experience working in adapted primary school, working with individuals with intellectual disabilities, and working in after-school care. You should also have good knowledge of autism.

It is advantageous if you have training or experience working with alternative and augmentative communication, e.g., signs like AAC (TAKK), PECS, have knowledge and/or experience working with applied behavior analysis (ABA), and have knowledge and/or experience working with clear pedagogical methods.

We are looking for someone who wants and can build relationships with students, believes that every student can reach their full potential, and wants to work to promote their independence. You are professional, have good judgment, and can set boundaries. You are empathetic and use a low-arousal approach when interacting with students. The work requires that you have patience and can adapt your communication and approach based on the situation. You are secure, trust-building, and recognize the importance of being an adult role model. You can work independently and take initiative. You are good at collaborating with colleagues. In your interactions with students and guardians, you are clear and attentive to the students' needs. You have a good ability to express yourself in Swedish, both verbally and in writing.
