Do you want to work at an authority that has the world as its field of work? The Swedish Museums of World Culture consists of the Etnographic Museum, the Museum of East Asian Art, and the Mediterranean Museum in Stockholm, as well as the Museum of World Culture in Gothenburg. With collections spanning thousands of years and all continents, the World Culture Museums can provide perspectives and increased understanding of who we are, where we come from, and what kind of world we want to create together. With a vision of a larger, more humane, and more inclusive world, our mission is more urgent than ever!
Today, about 150 employees work based on the government assignment to showcase and bring to life the world's cultures and provide perspectives on an increasingly globalized world, both historically and today. Our core activities are gathered in three departments: Collections, Content and Learning, and Public Meetings. All departments work with the audience in focus, in close collaboration, and with the entire authority as the field of work. Our overarching goal is to become relevant to more people, and we are now looking for you who, with knowledge, curiosity, and warmth, want to contribute to developing the operations forward.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Your responsibilities include warmly and curiously welcoming our visitors to, and informing them about, our operations at our three Stockholm museums: the Mediterranean Museum, the Etnographic Museum, and the Museum of East Asian Art, as well as our digital offerings. As a museum host, you will circulate in the museum's public areas, answer visitors' questions on-site, by phone, or digitally, staff the entrance and shop, conduct daily public tours in Swedish and English, and visitor surveys. Furthermore, you will be responsible for daily supervision of exhibitions and public spaces and act in alarm and emergency situations. The work also includes preparation, implementation, and restoration during venue rentals and program activities.
As a museum host, you will be part of a host team. You will have scheduled working hours that include work in the morning, daytime, evenings, and weekends. The position is a temporary employment where each work occasion is either a substitute or a specific fixed-term employment. Please note that you need to be able to work between the dates of 24/6-17/8. The temporary employment may possibly be extended if needed. We are looking for one or more museum hosts. You will contribute with engagement and ideas and collaborate well with colleagues to best meet all visitors' needs and offer a first-class visitor experience.
