Drum and Percussion Teacher Wanted at Kulturskolan in Nynäshamn

Job Responsibilities

At Nynäshamn's Kulturskola, you will meet students from the age of seven up to adults, primarily in individual lessons but also in groups. In addition to regular drum instruction taking place both at the municipality's primary schools and at Kulturskolan on Nynäsvägen 20, you will be an important part of the school's wind orchestras along with three other teachers. As Kulturskolan has received an expanded mission focusing on offering more cultural activities during children's leisure time, you will also work with Kulturskolan's holiday activities. With us, you will have a lot of freedom under responsibility and a chance to build and develop your subject. Some weekend work may occur.

About the Workplace

The main task of the Child and Education Administration is to provide a safe and stimulating learning environment where we prepare children and young people for the future. We also work to promote access to cultural and leisure activities for all residents.

Kulturskolan currently has ten educators in the subjects of music, dance, drama, and visual arts. We are currently working to make ourselves visible and develop subjects to reach more children and young people. There are two team leaders and a part-time administrator as well as a principal. Kulturskolan's building is the old people's house and is located at Malmtorget a couple of hundred meters from the harbor and the ferries. You can easily reach Nynäshamn by commuter train, bus, or car via road 73 south from Stockholm.

What We Are Looking For

To succeed in this role, you have:

• relevant pedagogical university education or other education/experience that we assess as equivalent
• experience teaching at a cultural school
• a high level of playing with good genre breadth
• driver's license B

It is meritorious if you have:

• experience working in a politically governed organization
• Bi-instrument skills in Bass
• knowledge of Studyalong and the Office package
• experience working with sound and light

As you will be setting your own teaching schedule, it is important that you are self-driven, structured, solution-focused, and able to compromise. In addition to teaching, you will participate in joint projects and performances both at and outside the school, which requires you to have a strong work ethic and not be afraid to pitch in when needed.
