Department of Subject Education
The Department of Subject Education is characterized by a dynamic educational and research environment.
The department's educational activities encompass training at the undergraduate, advanced, and doctoral levels. In undergraduate education, the activities are largely linked to teacher training programs, as well as independent courses and commissioned education. The position is located at the Department of Didactics for the Humanities and Social Sciences, which has about 30 employed teachers and researchers. The number of employees at the department currently amounts to nearly 300 people.

Subject didactics with a focus on geography.
Job Responsibilities
The job responsibilities consist of research, teaching, course development, planning, supervision, and examination within the department's course offerings in teacher education, primarily focusing on subject didactics in geography and workplace-based education (VFU). A central task is course responsibility and overall planning of VFU and independent work/thesis. Teaching within the department's other course offerings may also occur. Teaching is primarily conducted in Swedish. The position includes actively participating in the department's research environment and conducting independent research. The work as a university lecturer includes participating in pedagogical, research-related, and administrative development work, which includes participation in working groups and committees.
Eligibility Requirements
Eligible for appointment as a lecturer is a person who has obtained a doctoral degree in subject didactics or equivalent with a focus on the subject of geography and has demonstrated pedagogical proficiency in teaching in this area. Furthermore, a teacher's degree and experience in teaching at primary or secondary school are required. The applicant should have good collaborative skills and the ability and suitability otherwise necessary to perform the tasks well. Since the course offerings are currently exclusively in Swedish, very good knowledge of Swedish in both spoken and written form is required.
Assessment Criteria
Particular importance is attached to scientific and pedagogical proficiency in the field of geography didactics. Particular importance is also attached to the applicant's documented ability to structure and organize engaging teaching within higher education that stimulates students to independent learning. Great importance is attached to documented experience and good ability to conduct practice-oriented, didactic research and development work related to teaching in the subject of geography, particularly focusing on students' geographical thinking. Scientific proficiency should be demonstrated through research publications, presentations at conferences, and networking and research collaboration. Pedagogical proficiency should be demonstrated through documented experience of teaching and course development across a broad range of courses at undergraduate and advanced levels, as well as through supervision of theses. Proficiency should be documented in a way that makes it possible to assess the quality of both the scientific and pedagogical activities.
Higher education pedagogical training or equivalent knowledge acquired in other ways is meritorious. An applicant who lacks higher education pedagogical training of at least 15 credits and who is not assessed to have acquired equivalent knowledge in other ways must undergo such training during the first two years of employment. Applicants who believe they have equivalent knowledge without having undergone formal education should explain in their application how the knowledge was acquired and why it corresponds to the competence that formal education provides.
About the Employment
The position is permanent and full-time, with a start date to be agreed upon. A six-month probationary period may be applied.
The employment includes competence and research time according to applicable terms and conditions.
