Project Description

PhD Subject: Electrical and Systems Engineering

Among several new features that will define the upcoming 6G networks, there is no doubt that AI is among the most important foundational technologies.

Research in this area is currently exploring three main directions:

  1. Replacing specific functions in the radio network stack with AI.
  2. Using AI to enable entirely new functions in radio systems.
  3. Leveraging generative AI to instantiate arbitrary radio network stacks for specific applications.

The PhD candidates will work on these three topics as part of a collaborative team, in close cooperation with internal researchers and external partners.

The PhD candidates will focus on MAC and link layer aspects of radio networks, while considering the role of the physical and network layers. The work will involve a mix of theoretical research and practical experiments, providing you with the opportunity to contribute to both fundamental and applied advancements in the field.

Supervision: Professor James Gross
