JOB DESCRIPTION

As a correctional officer, you are the foundation of the security work. You work in teams with other professional groups to maintain a safe and secure environment and motivate clients towards a life without crime.

Clear routines are a natural part of your daily work. You are the one who opens the cell door in the morning and locks it in the evening. You accompany clients to work and education, search and supervise outdoor areas and training facilities. But you also have daily contact with clients to know how they are doing and you are part of the release preparations.

Please note that this is a summer temporary position between June and August and you are expected to be available for the entire period from week 25 to week 32. You will start your summer temporary position with a mandatory introductory training.

QUALIFICATIONS

Your personal qualities are important to us. As a correctional officer, you need to be secure, stable, and have good self-awareness. Since you will be working with your colleagues to drive the operations, you need to have good collaboration skills and the ability to communicate clearly. Good judgment and integrity are required in your professional practice. You should have a physical condition that enables you to act physically when the situation requires it. We place great emphasis on personal qualities.

To thrive and succeed in your role, it is important that you share Kriminalvården's fundamental values of a humane view of humanity, respect for the individual, and the belief that people can develop. You should also be aware of and understand how background, culture, and group affiliation affect yourself and others. Furthermore, you are expected to contribute to ensuring that everyone is treated equally.

We are looking for someone who has:

• Work experience, including seasonal work, part-time employment, or self-employment. Internships and volunteer work are not considered equivalent to employment.
• Completed upper secondary education or other education combined with work experience that Kriminalvården deems relevant.
• Good knowledge of the Swedish language in both spoken and written form.
• Good computer skills.

It is an advantage if you have:

• Work experience from corrections, security work, social care, psychiatry, or health and care work.
• Knowledge in relevant fields, such as behavioral science, criminology, psychiatry, law, and conflict management.
• Trained nurse, military service, or other education from the armed forces.
• Experience working with people, e.g., flight attendant, cabin manager, pilot, or within the armed forces.
• Other language skills.
• Knowledge in relevant fields, such as behavioral science, criminology, psychiatry, law, and conflict management.
• MI.

About the workplace:

Norrtälje Prison is a closed prison in the highest security class. Over 220 employees and 15 managers manage, lead, and develop the operations that receive over 200 inmates. The largest professional group is correctional officers, but there are also healthcare professionals, administrative staff, educators, production leaders, etc. The inmates are engaged in education, various treatment programs, or within the prison's woodworking and mechanical workshops. You can easily reach Norrtälje Prison by bus, and if you drive, you can park in our staff parking.

OTHER

We have high demands on our employees' security and confidentiality awareness. To work with us, you need to undergo a security review in accordance with the Security Protection Act. For this position, a security review interview will be conducted before a hiring decision is made. During the security review, you will be investigated as a person, your background, and your relationships from a security perspective. You will receive more information about the security review during your job interview.
