Höglandsförbundet is a municipal federation formed by Aneby, Eksjö, Nässjö, Sävsjö, and Vetlanda. These five municipalities, located in the Småland highlands, value collaboration and know that we become stronger together. By combining our strengths and resources, we can increase competence, better utilize resources, improve quality, and provide better service to residents. Today, we have a variety of activities that work for the benefit of the entire Höglandet.

One of the activities within Höglandsförbundet is Höglandsgymnasiet. Höglandsgymnasiet has schools in Eksjö, Nässjö, Sävsjö, and Vetlanda. In total, we have about 550 employees working to ensure that our approximately 3000 students receive a high-quality education that prepares them for the future in the workforce or further studies.

Your New Job

As an instructor in orienteering at Eksjö Gymnasium, which has both national intake (RIG) and local/regional intake (NIU), you will have the opportunity for a multifaceted role where you are a key player in all activities related to our orienteering focus. Orienteering as a subject falls within special sports, and as an instructor, you will be responsible for both theoretical and practical teaching and development meetings with the students. You will be part of our coaching team for both RIG and NIU.

You will lead orienteering training for high-performing and motivated high school students who are at the very elite level. You are expected to conduct coaching conversations and support students throughout their 3-4 year sports education. You will also be involved in following students in the forest and providing pedagogical feedback during training sessions, all to ensure that each student reaches their full potential. Additionally, you will take significant responsibility for the students' schooling and maintain continuous contact with teachers in other subjects.

The work involves evening work, some weekend work, and participation in training camps both in Sweden and abroad.

About You

To succeed in your role, you need to have good experience and knowledge in leading orienteering training at the elite level for youth and juniors. We prefer that you have a coaching education or an equivalent qualification that has provided you with knowledge about training and competition theory, nutrition, as well as physical and mental training. If you have a teaching degree with qualifications in other subjects, it is an advantage. You need good knowledge of working with OCAD – course setting system. We need someone who enjoys working with youth, especially those who want to pursue an elite career in orienteering while achieving good academic results. You are structured, drive the work forward, and set clear goals. You easily adapt to changing circumstances and have a good ability to collaborate. You build good relationships and are a reliable person who can see the bigger picture and take responsibility for it. You prioritize the student, have a professional attitude towards what you do, and want to help develop the school and education together with your colleagues. A B driver's license is a requirement.

About Our School

Eksjö Gymnasium is located in central Eksjö and currently has about 580 students distributed across nine different programs and adapted upper secondary school. We provide our students with a safe study environment, with good conditions for further higher education and opportunities for meaningful work after graduation.

In addition to educators, several key personnel work at the school, with the common goal that all students should feel good, be safe, and succeed in their studies. For our students coming from other municipalities, there are student accommodations staffed with personnel.

Good to Know

The position is a fixed-term employment from 2025-08-06 to 2026-06-16 with a workload of 80-90%.
