Job Advertisement: Teacher in After-School Care

Increased learning - equity - meeting places; three important core values that permeate all work in the schools of Nässjö municipality, a medium-sized municipality with about 30,000 inhabitants in the Småland highlands. To realize this, the municipal council has adopted a strategic and long-term development work for preschool and school in Nässjö municipality.

Within the Department of Children and Education, we consciously and purposefully work to provide every child and student with the tools needed to seek knowledge in life. The goal is for every child and student to develop according to their conditions and feel joy and pride in their achievements.

Åkerskolan is a F-6 school including adapted primary school and after-school care. The number of students is approximately 500, and we are about 100 staff.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

The role of the teacher in after-school care involves designing the teaching/activity so that the after-school care complements the school both in terms of time and content. The student should be offered a meaningful, stimulating, and developing leisure time that is varied and based on the student's needs and interests. Furthermore, the assignment should combine care and pedagogy that supports the student's physical, intellectual, social, and emotional development as well as lifelong learning. Teachers in after-school care should prepare students for life in a democratic and multicultural society.

The assignment is governed by the Education Act, the curriculum, and municipal governing documents.

The target group is students aged 6-12 years.

The assignment includes contributing to one's own, the group's, and the organization's development.

Job Tasks:

• Recognize each student's needs and interests and design the teaching/activity accordingly
• Meet the student's need for care
• Plan, implement, and evaluate the teaching/activity
• Manage group processes in case of conflicts within the student group
• Document and assess based on governing documents
• Conduct teaching/activity outdoors and indoors
• Create and maintain contacts with guardians
• Contribute to school development
• Collaborate with others inside and outside the school, e.g., colleagues, student health services, social services, etc.
• Stay updated in the profession

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone with a teaching degree focused on after-school care.

You should be positive, solution-focused, flexible, and adaptable. Furthermore, you need to be patient and skilled at meeting the child at their level. It is required that the applicant has good leadership skills and is resilient under stress. You participate with a positive and generous attitude in the school's collegial learning and collaboration. You are well acquainted with the curriculum for after-school care.

It is required that you have a working method where flexible thinking is a natural part, good collaboration skills, and where the desire to create good relationships is a given. Good judgment and high integrity are important as we want you to be a role model for the students.
