Temporary Youth Counselor at HVB Kärrarp

Your New Job

As a youth counselor, you will be responsible, together with your colleagues, for the daily care of the youth in a home-like environment. Motivation, structure, support, and trust are important parts of the work. Motivation for schooling and leisure activities is a natural part of the role. The work is based on a systemic approach aimed at freeing resources within the individual, the family, and the entire network. Various forms of treatment conversations are included in the treatment offerings to achieve change, including both individual conversations and parental support conversations.

Your Qualifications

We are looking for someone who is a social worker, social pedagogue, treatment pedagogue, occupational therapist, nurse, or has another relevant degree of at least 2 years at the post-secondary level.

You are a stable person who can provide respectful treatment to individuals and create a balance for achieving treatment success. Furthermore, we see that you are a trustworthy person who can create and maintain good relationships with youth and their relatives. In the recruitment process, we place great importance on personal suitability.

Administrative experience is a prerequisite for handling documentation in the work.

A driver's license (B) is required for the position, and you should be able to drive both automatic and manual transmission vehicles in the role.

Meritorious

Experience working with youth exhibiting various types of problematic behavior is meritorious for the position.

Training in systems theory, low-arousal responses in practice, attachment theory, dialectical behavior therapy, and neuropsychiatry/psychiatry, as well as knowledge of laws in the social field, BBIC, MI, ICDP, TMO, Signs of Safety, and solution-focused thinking, is also meritorious.

Welcome to Us

HVB Kärrarp is organized within the municipality's Individual and Family Care. The target group is girls aged 13–20 with psychosocial issues, behavioral problems, and/or neuropsychiatric disabilities. The residence has seven places and one emergency place, with placements supported by SoL or LVU. We operate around the clock and currently have awake night staff and a sleeping on-call service overnight, along with 2-3 staff during the day and evening, as well as a coordinator and unit manager.

The operation is based on a systems-theoretical foundation and a health-promoting approach. What already works should be utilized. Great emphasis is placed on social skills training, work with families and networks, and a functioning school attendance. The operation has a clear focus on creating good relationships between youth and staff. Being understood, listened to, and taken seriously is seen as a prerequisite for change to occur. The youth should encounter a predictable structure, intensity in treatment, and constant adult presence.

Good to Know

The recruitment concerns one (1) temporary full-time position, with start and end dates according to agreement. Scheduled working hours include days, evenings, on-call, and weekend work. We use ongoing selection.

At the job interview, an extract from the Swedish Police Authority's criminal record and suspicion register must be provided according to the provisions of the law (2007:171) on background checks at such homes for care or accommodation that receive children.
