We are a team of 25 creative employees dedicated to providing children and young people with opportunities to develop through teaching, experiences, and their own creativity in music, dance, visual arts, circus, and theater. We have a large outreach program with concerts, performances, and exhibitions, and we also conduct outreach and open activities to reach even more children and young people.

We also work with activities within the Cultural Promise, which guarantees all students in Sandviken's preschools and primary schools professional cultural experiences and opportunities for self-expression every school year.

The Cultural School is located in adapted premises at the Cultural Center Sandviken, where we collaborate closely with our colleagues from the library, cultural unit, art hall, and the literature house Trampolin. Teaching also takes place at several of the municipality's primary schools.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

You will teach students aged 4-19 in violin and viola, both individually and in groups, as well as lead ensembles at various levels and in different genres.

With us, it is important that students have the opportunity to play together with others early on. Your responsibilities will also include active student recruitment and organizing and conducting outreach activities together with colleagues and students. You will also work with the introductory course Speldosan aimed at children aged 6-8 and projects within the Cultural Promise for preschools and primary schools. You will participate in interdisciplinary projects where you will be a creative force in the group. Piano teaching may also be part of the position. Together with students, colleagues, and the manager, you will develop, plan, and implement work based on the cultural school's operational plan. You will be responsible for communication with your students and strive for good relationships with them and their guardians.

Evening and weekend work may occur.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for a competent musician with a degree in music education or other training/experience deemed equivalent by the employer. You have experience teaching violin and viola to children and young people and can also accompany at a basic level. Competence and experience in Suzuki teaching and/or folk music are advantageous, as well as the ability to teach piano.

You have good pedagogical skills and a clear desire to help children and young people develop through cultural activities. In your role, you should be able to awaken and build on the student's interest and inspire and adapt teaching to each individual's unique circumstances. You are creative, responsible, flexible, and well-organized, you work independently and also find it easy to collaborate with others. You have good knowledge of digital tools, both pedagogical and administrative, and actively use them in your teaching. We place great importance on personal suitability.

A driver's license is required. Access to a personal vehicle is desirable. In this recruitment process, a criminal record check will be requested. A teaching demonstration during the job interview will be part of the recruitment process.
