About the position

The job involves exciting and varied tasks where you teach both theoretically and practically, focusing on animals and youth. You are an important part of the school's pedagogical team and contribute to the students developing both professional skills and an ethical approach to animal care. Together with your colleagues, you plan and implement teaching for students in the fields of veterinary care and animal care. You collaborate with the school's animal caretakers, who are responsible for the daily care of our animals and guide students in practical work.

In the role of veterinarian, you are also responsible for parts of the animal health in the school's educational environments as well as for necessary contacts with authorities to ensure that our animal facility meets current requirements.

In addition to working within the school's operations, there is an opportunity to run your own small animal clinic in our facilities if you wish – a unique opportunity for those who want to combine clinical work with teaching and supervision. The school's clinic consists of a larger examination room, waiting room, a room with five cages, and an adjacent room with an adjustable dog bathtub. The clinic is equipped with examination tables, examination lights, scales, incubators, welding equipment, and refrigerators.

The working hours are scheduled between 08:00 and 16:00 on weekdays. No on-call or weekend work is required. Our teachers have a holiday service with a collective agreement via Almega (Education) - Friskolor Sveriges lärare.

About you

You are passionate about working with youth and want to contribute to shaping the future workforce in veterinary care. You are eager to impart knowledge, promote good animal husbandry, and work for the welfare of animals. You want to be involved in developing our veterinary education into one of the best in the country, together with your colleagues. Working in the school requires that you have pedagogical insight, good collaboration skills, that you listen actively, and communicate in a clear and respectful manner. You provide students with a democratic and ethical approach and work in line with the school's values.

It is important that you can plan, organize, document, and prioritize work in an effective and structured way, and that you have the ability to set and adhere to deadlines. We offer the opportunity to gain qualifications as a vocational teacher during working hours, and we hope that you will start this training within a couple of years of starting with us.

Qualifications:

• You are a licensed veterinarian or licensed veterinary nurse, preferably with a few years of experience.
• You have the ability to supervise students both theoretically and practically.
• Pedagogical experience is an advantage.
• You have a good sense of animals and can work with different species.
• A driving license (B) is required as teaching also takes place outside the school premises.

Start date: 2025-08-07 or by agreement.

Employment type: Permanent position. Begins with a six-month probationary period.

Extent: Two positions; 75%+75% or 50%+100% depending on preference

The position is subject to a background check, and a certificate from the police's criminal record must be presented before employment occurs.

About Gamlebygymnasiet

Gamlebygymnasiet is located about 20 kilometers north of Västervik. We are a nature management high school with national intake for students who love animals, nature, machines, and want a practical education with the opportunity for further studies. All our programs give students the option to start working immediately after graduation or continue their studies at university or college. About 50 people are employed for our nearly 200 students. Most students live in the school's boarding facilities. This creates a community among students, teachers, and other staff. The school is run by the Hushållningssällskapet Kalmar Kronoberg Blekinge, which operates three nature management high schools. The Hushållningssällskapet works with knowledge to develop the green industry.

The Hushållningssällskapet Kalmar Kronoberg Blekinge consists of about 250 employees spread across six different offices and schools. This allows us to seek competencies across a large part of the country and offer job opportunities in three different counties.
