The position of youth coach is a collaboration between leisure activities and the preventive work of social services aimed at children and youth. The leisure activities are part of the culture and leisure unit along with the cultural school and general culture, and social services' open care is part of the Advice and Support Unit together with student health. The youth coach will be part of a team consisting of 1.5 youth coaches and 1 youth therapist. Three young activity leaders are also employed on an hourly basis and work together with the youth coach on planning and executing leisure activities.

The development work is part of the administration's targeted mission linked to improved living conditions, meaningful leisure, and preventive work aimed at children and youth.

Sjöbo Municipality is looking for a youth coach for a project activity, where you will work both operationally and strategically to establish an activity-based leisure operation for youth in combination with social preventive work with youth at risk of crime, substance abuse, or other behaviors that may hinder positive development.

The unique aspect of this project position is that you work in the field between promoting and preventive work as well as strategic and practical execution. In the preventive work, you identify youth at risk and in collaboration with other important adults, you offer social preventive measures at the individual level. In the promoting work, you work with the entire target group to create meaningful leisure through activities focusing on youth needs and participation.

QUALIFICATIONS

You have a genuine interest in youth issues and see young people as a resource. You are outgoing, engaged, and have an easy time building trusting relationships with youth. You are structured and enjoy working independently, while also thriving in collaboration as you will be part of various networks and workgroups. You should be an initiator and a starter with a coaching approach.

You feel comfortable reaching out and having conversations with youth and find it easy to collaborate both internally and externally. The position involves a lot of teamwork, so it is important that you have good communication skills, can create trusting relationships, and work with the team to achieve good results. It is also important that you are flexible in your work and can adapt to changing circumstances. We would also like you to have an understanding of and experience using social media as a means and tool.

The youth coach will be supervised by a steering group with representatives from both leisure activities and social services.

For this position, we place great importance on your personal competencies and qualities. You are educated as a social worker, behavioral scientist, or have another higher education that the employer considers equivalent.

You have a B driver's license for a manual transmission vehicle as you will need to travel between various youth meeting places and operations.

You have experience working with youth and collaborating with social services, leisure, schools, and civil society. It is an advantage if you have completed child rights strategy training.
