Position as Escort/Reliever
Welcome to Health, Care and Social Services Administration and the Department of Health and Prevention.
Here we are responsible for initiatives in the areas of health promotion and preventive work. The department also implements decisions made according to the Social Services Act (SoL) and carries out initiatives according to the Health and Medical Services Act (HSL). We offer, among other things, handyman services, family consultants, meeting places, consultative nurses, day activities, escorting, and relief services.
Within the department, we also have a particularly important mission focused on increasing the quality of life and combating involuntary loneliness among our Malmö residents. We are looking for someone interested in working with us in all of the department's activities. The position is fundamentally an escort service that should also be able to strengthen all activities to ensure the right of seniors to receive care and support in Finnish.
The escort service offers escorting and relief in the home. Escorting can be granted for the elderly or individuals facing difficulties in everyday life who need help participating in activities outside the home. This can include leisure activities, cultural activities, visiting friends, or taking a walk.
The ambition of escorting is to break the isolation that can result from reduced functional ability and to increase the individual's opportunities for community and participation in social life through various initiatives.
Malmö has been part of the Finnish administrative area since 2015, which means that Finnish-speaking Malmö residents have increased rights to use the Finnish language and maintain the Finnish culture in Sweden. For example, Finnish-speaking residents have the right to elderly care entirely or mostly in Finnish. Therefore, we are looking for a new dedicated employee for our department who is proficient in Finnish and wants to contribute to promoting language and culture within the Finnish minority in Sweden.
We are looking for someone passionate about working with people, has good pedagogical insight, and wants to contribute to development and change work.
Job Responsibilities
As an escort/reliever, you will work to provide support and good service to our users and their individual needs and wishes. Support measures should promote the user's integrity, participation, and be carried out with respect for the user's self-determination. The user's needs should be at the center, and the person's views should be actively taken into account. You will work systematically and with social documentation.
In addition to escorting and relief, you are expected to support all professional categories in Finnish, which may involve, for example, a basic setup with 3 days of escorting/relieving, one day in day activities for people with dementia, and one day at a meeting place. Additionally, home visits with handymen or outreach workers and support conversations for relatives with family consultants may be needed. The position is expected to be adjusted according to the need for your language skills.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone with documented higher education in behavioral science, such as a social worker or elderly pedagogue, or other relevant education for the position.
Your working method is characterized by flexibility, continuity, and security. You are engaged and have a desire to share our values and work towards set goals as well as to work with continuous improvements.
You are clear in your communication and have a consultative working method, both in individual interventions and in groups. Being engaged, proactive, solution-oriented, and development-focused with a high service ability is essential. You are proficient in Finnish and Swedish in both spoken and written forms.
Malmö City can offer a position where you have the opportunity to operate in dynamic contexts where our activities are at the center. We are a dedicated team working in a fast-paced environment with exciting and varied assignments. Our operations have good development potential, and we welcome drive, initiative, and new ideas that can contribute to developing our working methods and our offerings to best meet the needs of Malmö residents.
Does this sound interesting? Then we would love to hear from you.
Selection and interviews are ongoing.
