The Department of Special Investigations (SU) handles cases according to the regulation (2014:1106) on the processing of cases concerning crimes committed by employees within the police and certain other officials (SUF). The cases concern reports against employees and contractors within the Police Authority and the Security Police, police students, prosecutors, judges, lay judges, members of parliament, and government officials. Furthermore, the department shall, if necessary, provide support and assistance to the Parliamentary Ombudsman, the Chancellor of Justice, and other authorities.

Independence and Quality

The head of the department is appointed by the government, and the operations are financed through its own budget. The Police Authority's oversight council and regional police councils are tasked with specifically monitoring the operations. SU is an independent department within the Police Authority and is located separately from other police operations. All investigators at SU are commissioners with extensive experience in investigative work and competencies from various operational areas. The department collaborates with the Special Prosecutor's Office (SÅK) and has established joint processing routines.

Organization

The department consists of a secretariat, a case coordination unit, an intelligence unit, a surveillance unit, an image analysis unit, and four investigation units. The secretariat, case coordination unit, intelligence unit, image analysis unit, and surveillance unit are located in Stockholm. The investigation units are located in Stockholm, Uppsala, Gothenburg, and Malmö.

The department is now seeking an investigator for the Investigation Unit in Malmö.

Job Description

The main task of the unit is investigative work concerning suspicions of crimes committed in service or during leisure time by police employees and certain other officials. The nature of the crimes varies, including offenses against the Penal Code as well as offenses against special legislation.

The tasks include, among other things:

· Conducting interrogations and taking other investigative measures according to directives from the prosecutor

· Compiling information for submission to the prosecutor and related tasks

· Assisting the prosecutor in court proceedings if necessary

· Participating in information about the department's activities, including regulations.

· Handling requests for public documents and conducting confidentiality assessments

Qualifications

This is an opportunity for you who have:

  • Police degree
  • Relevant and solid investigative experience
  • Practical experience in working with coercive measures and practical experience with software for investigative work.
  • Good IT skills
  • Very good ability to express yourself well in speech and writing in Swedish
  • Swedish citizenship

It is an advantage if you also have:

  • Experience in investigating crimes in close relationships
  • Experience in structuring, analyzing, and compiling large amounts of information
  • Supplementary legal studies
  • Experience in investigating various crime categories
  • Experience in change and development work
