Parent Advisor to Family House
Stockholm – our capital city with millions of dreams, expectations, and ambitions. We work for everyone living here today and in the future. We are now looking for someone who wants to think big, new, and differently with us – for the people of Stockholm.
Workplace Description
Enskede-Årsta-Vantör is a large district sometimes referred to as "Little Stockholm" due to its spread of areas with varying characteristics. This contributes to a challenging and exciting job with great opportunities to influence the early preventive support for children and parents. The preventive and promotional work with children, youth, and families is prioritized. We work based on a prevention science and systems theory foundation, focusing on risk and protective factors.
The parent reception is part of the unit for prevention and early support, which includes field operations, school social workers (SST), parent advisors, and counselors at the youth reception, led by a unit manager. The department for preventive and promotional work is led by a department manager and unit managers. The department includes units such as youth centers, playgrounds, open preschools, citizen and community services, and health-promoting elderly care.
The Family House reception, the parent reception consists of parent advisors who work with individual counseling and support conversations for parents and children aged 0-17 years, the expanded home visit program with BVC, and other outreach and preventive work in collaboration with Open Preschools, kindergartens, and more. The workgroup also consists of three additional parent advisors who have different focuses in their assignments.
Job Description
As a parent advisor, you will be part of the expanded home visit program together with BVC, providing counseling and support conversations to parents and children aged 0-17 living in the district, as well as to parents who are part of the expanded home visit program and need additional support conversations. A continued prioritized development area is to make children visible and involve them in the interventions provided to change their life situation. This means following up on whether the support had the intended effect, providing support and interventions where the needs are greatest.
You, along with your colleagues, will work outreach and collaborate with, for example, preschools, associations, housing for newcomers, and others, to provide accessible parent support to many. Parents who are new to Sweden are a prioritized target group. In your role as a parent advisor, you will also hold parenting support groups and parent groups.
In 2025, the operation will focus extra on strengthening cooperation with playgrounds, aiming to offer early easily accessible parenting support in another arena. This means that part of the working hours will be allocated to the playground, in addition to regular tasks but with a focus on the expanded home visit program and parenting support groups.
Qualifications
You are a trained social worker or have an education that the employer considers equivalent.
You have work experience in outreach work with adults/parents and have experience working within authority enforcement.
You should be accustomed to collaborating with parties and have a good ability to express yourself in speech and writing. You should also have good knowledge of prevention science and a systemic approach.
As a person, you are secure, mature, and self-reliant, with good judgment and the ability to collaborate and build relationships. We also see that you are a person who is development-oriented and has a good ability to drive and create your own structure in work based on the overarching municipal assignment. You are flexible and can easily adapt.
Other
The advertisement concerns a permanent position, and you will work Monday to Friday mainly during the day. However, part of the working hours will be allocated to evenings, e.g., parenting support groups and home visits to families.
The workplace is in Högdalen and Rågsved, but a large part of the work is outreach work at other operations in the district as well as home visits to families. The City of Stockholm works with competence-based recruitment aimed at recognizing each person's competence and thus counteracting discrimination.
Enskede Årsta Vantör is one of 11 district administrations in the City of Stockholm. As part of the City of Stockholm, the administration offers preschool and leisure, care for the elderly and disabled, social services, preventive and safety-promoting work, urban development, and park maintenance to our 105,000 Stockholmers living in the district. We face exciting challenges as the Enskede Årsta Vantör district grows and entirely new neighborhoods are built. Approximately 18,000 new apartments are planned by 2030.
