Medicine 8 is an internal medicine inpatient department at Skåne University Hospital (Sus) in Lund, where one of two training units at Sus is included, our clinical training department (KUA). In our department, we primarily care for elderly patients with multiple illnesses who are investigated and treated for conditions such as heart failure, respiratory problems, and infections. Here, different professions complement each other with their unique skills, and this combined with high engagement creates quality and a sense of team.

JOB DESCRIPTION

In the department, we care for adults, often with multiple illnesses, who primarily come from the Emergency Department. Diagnoses that are most common with us include heart failure, COPD, anemia, infections, diabetes, and cognitive impairment. With us, you will develop in working cross-professionally with the internal medicine patient at the center. You work closely with the patient in a team with doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, and occupational therapists. It is important that you feel secure and enjoy providing daily care for elderly patients with multiple illnesses. This is a crucial part of what the nursing assistant does in our department and is essential for the patient to receive safe care.

We offer clinical competence development to strengthen you in your role. This takes place in weekly forums with lectures and practical training, as well as by working closely with our clinical specialist and team supervisor in your daily work.

QUALIFICATIONS

We welcome you who are a trained nursing assistant with a focus on emergency care/health care according to the previous program structure or are a trained nursing assistant within the new program structure who has studied all specializations. You have good language skills in Swedish, both spoken and written. It is an advantage if you have several years of experience in hospital care and have previously worked with student supervision.

Personal qualities that we value are that you are positive, engaged, and have a desire to develop in your role as a nursing assistant. We would like you to participate in various working groups that drive the department's work forward. Furthermore, you have good communication skills and are service-oriented. You have the ability to quickly adapt and adjust to current circumstances. You are humble in your relationship with patients and colleagues and have the patient in focus. It is particularly important if you are used to supervising new colleagues and students as there may be work at KUA, which is our training unit where we train students from, among other things, the nursing program during the semesters. Experience in the nursing assistant profession is advantageous.

As of July 1, 2023, the title nursing assistant became a protected professional title. This means that you will need a certificate from the National Board of Health and Welfare to use the title nursing assistant within health and care. If you currently have a permanent position as a nursing assistant and are offered a new position, you can retain your title as a nursing assistant until June 30, 2033. At any interview/employment, you will need to present proof of protected professional title from the National Board of Health and Welfare or a certificate that you were permanently employed on July 1, 2023. If you do not currently have a professional certificate from the National Board of Health and Welfare or are covered by the transitional provisions, it means that the title in your employment contract will be care assistant and not nursing assistant.
