Social Worker for Social Emergency Services in Stockholm

The Social Administration in Stockholm City has a comprehensive and coordinating role for social services regarding individual and family care and the area of disabilities. Here, good conditions are created to meet residents in need of social services support. In close collaboration with the district administrations, we contribute to a modern, digital, legally secure, equal, and knowledge-based social service, and we have a strong focus on development. Within the administration, a wide range of support measures are offered to the city's residents, and the offerings change based on the needs of Stockholmers and the wishes of the district administrations. The work often occurs in close cooperation with other authorities, civil society, and the business community. The Social Administration is also responsible for the city’s serving and tobacco permits and conducts supervision.

Stockholm City Social Emergency Services is available around the clock for residents and visitors in the city.

The Social Emergency Services receive visitors on-site, conduct home visits, meet clients in hospitals, participate in interrogations, and provide advisory services during phone calls. The Social Emergency Services handle applications and reports concerning minors and adults according to SoL, LVU, and LVM. They also work with emergency applications under the roof guarantee, TÖG, during evenings and weekends. In addition, the Social Emergency Services have crisis preparedness for the city during emergency hours and maintain close cooperation with the Police based on the current societal situation in the fight against gang crime in ROC - Regional Operational Center, a way in. Stockholm City Social Emergency Services also works according to the Iceland model, which involves close cooperation with the Police in cases involving domestic violence.

Due to one of our employees moving back to their hometown in Hälsingland, we are now looking for a new star/social worker to join us at the Social Emergency Services.

The Social Emergency Services belong to the Social Preparedness Area within the Social Administration, and within our area, there are also outreach and counseling, human trafficking and prostitution, youth emergency services, as well as the unit for reinforcement teams and special assignments.

You will join a team with extensive and solid experience. The Social Emergency Services have about 30 employees, of which six are team leaders. The atmosphere is good, and there is a nice community where, for example, social activities are organized after work.

We Offer

As the Social Emergency Services are open around the clock, you will work on a three-shift schedule, day/evening/night, and weekends. Working hours are mainly scheduled during emergency hours; evenings, nights, and weekends. Full-time is 34.33 hours.

Hello from Your Manager

My name is Nicolina Wallmark, and I have been the manager of the Social Emergency Services in Stockholm City for three years. I have worked as a manager for eight years and previously as a social worker in several areas of social services. As a manager and leader, I am engaged, cheerful, driven, communicative, and straightforward. Social work is very close to my heart, and I am passionate about the people we serve, both young and old.

Your Role

As a social worker in the Social Emergency Services, you will work with both adults and child and youth cases in acute situations. The work as a social worker includes conversations with clients, gathering information, updating cases, making assessments, and making decisions. Your work is based on the legislation and the knowledge support available, and we have many established routines and templates to support our collaboration.

The work involves close collaboration with the districts in the city and the unit for the homeless, as well as with the region and the Police in, among other things, the Iceland model and in ROC - Regional Operational Center, a way in regarding gang crime.

In the role of social worker, it is important to have an inclusive approach and a focus on wanting to collaborate both internally and externally. Our work is varied and content-rich, focusing on adapting tasks to those we meet. You will work independently but also with a lot of support from colleagues and team leaders.

Your Competence and Experience

We are looking for someone who can work both independently and in a team with your colleagues. You are structured and can plan and organize your work well, and you are engaged and have a good ability to establish contact with people in vulnerable situations. The work often involves meeting people in crisis and/or with a complex life situation, and it is therefore very important that you can see opportunities, convey hope, and meet people in a respectful manner. You have a positive basic attitude towards your assignment and contribute to a good working environment.

We are looking for you who have;

  • A degree in social work
  • At least two years of experience in public authority work within social services with children and youth.
  • A valid driver's license (B)
  • It is an advantage if you also have experience in public authority work with adults.
  • You work based on evidence-based practice, which means; the users' perspective, theoretical knowledge, and proven experiences.
  • In addition to the above, it is advantageous if you have worked in Stockholm City and are familiar with the city's documentation systems.
