We need to hire more of Sweden's best social workers. At the Child and Youth department in Södertälje, you will have a meaningful and challenging job.

We are now looking for two outreach social workers to join our wonderful team at the Youth Authority. The purpose of the outreach social workers is to work more intensively and proactively, in collaboration with the local police, to motivate the youth who are at the highest risk, as well as to work with detained children. Through quick and comprehensive contact during detentions, we hope to motivate youth and strengthen their trust in society and social services. The goal is to offer alternatives to crime, reduce recidivism risks, and prevent the recruitment of new children into organized crime. Additionally, the aim is to strengthen trust in social services by quickly and intensively addressing existing needs and providing support when motivation is at its peak.

The position is a permanent employment as a social worker within the youth authority. The position as an outreach social worker is a project for 2025 with a possibility of extension.


Your responsibilities

Your main responsibilities as an outreach social worker include working proactively to motivate youth who are at the highest risk, as well as working with detained children. The position also includes conducting investigations according to Chapter 11, Section 1 of the Social Services Act and following up on granted interventions for children and youth aged 12-20 and their families. We work as far as possible with voluntariness and consent, but in some cases, we are required to handle cases with the support of the Care of Young Persons Act (LVU).
We work according to the BBIC investigation method and use the Combine data system.

- You have a strong commitment and knowledge in the exercise of authority regarding children and youth.
- You can remain calm and professional in stressful situations.
- You have a good attitude towards both clients and colleagues and partners.
- You are responsible and work according to Södertälje municipality's values, where we respect all people regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, religion, disability, and sexual orientation.
- You are engaged, motivated, and innovative, which means you use your knowledge and abilities to develop the organization.

Requirements:
- Degree in social work.
- Excellent knowledge of Swedish in both spoken and written form.
- Good computer skills (e.g., Office package).
- B driver's license.
- Experience in social work with children/youth.

Meritorious:
- Experience working in social services, preferably with authority exercise.
- Training in Signs of Safety.
