JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

The sections of Democracy and Governance as well as Digitalization and Renewal are pleased to offer an opportunity for a semester internship for those studying a social science master's program in the autumn semester of 2025. We offer four internship positions.

During your internship, you will have an assigned supervisor and participate in the ongoing work of the section, section meetings, conferences, and any travel within the country. You will also have a larger task to complete under supervision. The formulation of the task will be done in dialogue between you and your supervisor and in consultation with the section manager. This could involve conducting a survey or writing a report on a topic related to the section's activities.

Democracy and Governance encompasses the fundamental democratic prerequisites for municipalities and regions, democracy-strengthening assignments, and supporting municipalities and regions in countering threats to democracy. We also work with issues related to political governance as well as leadership and management of various operational forms within municipal/regional activities. In this area, SKR also has a normative mandate regarding municipal auditing.

Digitalization and Renewal encompass the fundamental prerequisites for digitalization in municipalities and regions as well as innovation & renewal. The section plans, coordinates, and follows up on digitalization initiatives that SKR conducts together with municipalities and regions.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone studying a social science higher education program at the master's level. It is important that you have good analytical skills. Experience related to the municipal sector is meritorious (summer jobs, thesis, or similar). You have an easy time expressing yourself in speech and writing, and you have experience and a good ability to write shorter and longer texts, such as memos and reports. You have a strong interest in how politically governed organizations function.

Sveriges Kommuner och Regioner (SKR) is a membership and employer organization for Sweden's municipalities and regions.
