The Department of Children and Youth is responsible for Halmstad's municipal preschools, primary schools, adapted primary schools, after-school care, and cultural schools. Every day, about 16,000 children attend one of our activities.

Östergård School is a primary school with grades 4-9 and an associated after-school program. The school has about 650 students. The school is located in central Halmstad with easy access to facilities such as Halmstad Arena. At Östergård School, we work closely in teams, with great commitment to develop our students towards the goals.

Östergård School and its students and staff moved into new, beautiful premises in the autumn term of 2024. For several years, we have worked to challenge the structures of how the school is organized and how we can work differently to give our students the best possible conditions. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

We are looking for a qualified special education teacher with a focus on reading and writing for Östergård School. To thrive in the role of special education teacher with us, you need to have clear ideas about how students in need of special support can optimize their development and learning. The assignment involves, together with the pedagogues of the teams, resource personnel, and other student health staff, working preventively and purposefully to create good teaching and learning environments based on our governing documents.

As a special education teacher, you have an important role in the school's student health team where you collaborate with principals, teachers, special educators, school nurses, and counselors. You will also collaborate in meeting forums with external and internal contacts. In your work, you will draw on both research and proven experience.

Your main responsibilities:

• Teaching and adaptation: Plan and implement teaching tailored for student groups in need of support.
• Individual action plans: Design and implement educational measures to support students' development.
• Collaborate with teachers and student health teams: Provide advice and support to class teachers and others regarding adapted teaching methods.
• Be a qualified conversation partner and advisor in educational matters for principals, colleagues, guardians, and other stakeholders.

QUALIFICATIONS

Licensed special education teacher with a focus on reading and writing. You have qualifications for grades 7-9.

You have the ability to lead and are communicative. You find it easy to collaborate and see the team and other staff as an asset. You have an analytical ability and see problem-solving as part of your everyday life.
