GIL has been coordinating personal assistance since 1989. The cooperative has roots in the Independent Living movement, which is based on the principle that individuals with disabilities know best how they want to live their lives. Typically, the person receiving assistance is the closest supervisor of the assistants, or a person with in-depth knowledge of the individual is appointed.

As a personal assistant, you support a person with a disability to live the life they want to live. To attract and retain competent and satisfied assistants, we invest in training and events. I am a 67-year-old man who lost my arms in a workplace accident.

Therefore, I am now looking for a personal assistant who can help me with the things I find difficult to do myself. Everything from dressing and undressing, hygiene and cooking to cleaning, laundry, and activities. Simply put - you are an extension of my arms.

Your workdays will be varied. You will assist me at home, but also during training, shopping, and outings. I live in a house with my wife, so sometimes it may also include some gardening or minor repairs. Additionally, I am active in an association, which may involve travel and overnight stays for annual meetings and other events, 1-2 times a year.

It is important that you are proficient in Swedish, both spoken and written, as you may need to assist me in various situations.

The position starts as a temporary hourly employment and may then transition to a fixed-term employment as long as the assistance assignment lasts at 37%, during daytime (sometime between 11:30 AM and 5:30 PM), but evenings and weekends may occur.
