Welcome to the City Museum Cultural Environment

The City Museum Cultural Environment works with knowledge building about the growing city and provides expert support in cultural environment issues to the city as a manager and developer of buildings and environments.

The City Museum Cultural Environment has the following main tasks:

• Referral authority and expert support
• Classification of the city's buildings and environments
• Project and assignment activities
• Public activities, contemporary documentation, and research

We are now seeking reinforcement for our project and assignment activities!

The Cultural Environment Unit is part of the Museums and Art Department, which is part of the Cultural Administration in Stockholm.

Your role as a building conservator

Your main tasks are to:

• Plan and produce conservation knowledge bases
• Conduct inventories, preliminary investigations, cultural environment analyses, and impact assessments
• Act as expert support in cultural environment issues to the city's administrations and companies at various stages
• Project management and assignment responsibility
• Referral handling
• Contribute to development and continuous improvements within the unit's working methods and fields
• Participate in and contribute to the department's public activities and work

Reporting is done to the unit manager and to the assignment coordinator as well as to the coordinator for referral handling.

Your qualifications and experience

The position requires that you have:

• Relevant higher education in the cultural environment field.
• Several years of experience in cultural environment work within private and/or public sectors.
• Experience in producing conservation knowledge bases and conducting conservation inventories, preliminary investigations, cultural environment analyses, and impact assessments for various types of cultural environments including green environments.
• Good knowledge of the Swedish language, both written and oral.
• Good knowledge of the legislation, regulations, and policies related to cultural heritage conservation.
• Good knowledge of architectural history, cultural history, and building history.

It is advantageous if you have additional education in subjects such as cultural heritage, archaeology, architecture, urban planning, landscape architecture, geography, cultural geography, garden history, etc., as well as if you are a certified expert in cultural values.

We are looking for someone who is goal- and results-oriented and used to acting professionally in your role. Furthermore, it is important that you have good collaboration skills and are structured in your working methods, as well as the ability to adjust tasks based on changing priorities.

Work may occur in the evenings and on weekends. The job involves travel within the city of Stockholm. The City of Stockholm works with competency-based recruitment aimed at recognizing each person's competencies and thus counteracting discrimination.
