We are now looking for someone who wants to mentor the youth who will be working with us this summer. Do you enjoy leading others and have experience in similar work? Then you might be the one we are looking for!

Falun is a cultural city with fantastic environments, a unique city center, vibrant countryside, and UNESCO World Heritage status. The Environmental and Community Development Administration, which has just over a hundred employees, works with development and management in both urban and rural areas. The administration handles issues related to urban planning, construction, traffic, operations, maintenance, environment, nature, and business, as well as working towards a sustainable society.

The Traffic and Land department is one of the departments within the Environmental and Community Development Administration. The department is responsible for the operation and management of parks, nature reserves, forests, streets, and traffic.

Job Responsibilities

In the role of mentor, your task is to take care of and guide the youth who work with us during the summer. The tasks include cleaning our outdoor environments, weeding, and other simpler tasks within the park/nature conservation area. You will mentor a group of three youth during two periods of three weeks each, totaling six consecutive weeks. The summer workers are aged 16-19, and for most, this summer job is their first encounter with working life. During the remaining time, you will work on planning and follow-up and support regular operations.

Qualifications

The following is required for the role:

• Experience in similar work or experience as a leader in, for example, community activities.
• Driver's license for manual transmission
• Good driving experience, as one of your tasks is to drive the youth to and from various workplaces.
• Good command of the Swedish language in both spoken and written form.
• Good computer skills and experience with work tools such as mobile phones/tablets.

Personal Qualities

We are looking for someone who enjoys leading others and likes practical work. You need to have high personal maturity and a strong work ethic, as you will be a role model for the youth and provide them with a good introduction to working life. You have the ability to inspire and make everyone feel included in the group.

To succeed as a mentor, you need to be flexible, have problem-solving skills, and have an interest in nature and enjoy physical work outdoors.

Desirable Qualifications

• Experience in a leadership role within community activities or sports contexts.
• Experience working with gardening/park work, nature conservation/biodiversity
• Previous employment as a mentor for the age group 16-19 years
• It is an advantage if you speak additional languages besides Swedish and English

Employment Conditions

The position is a fixed-term full-time employment starting 2025-06-??

Duration according to agreement, but no longer than until 2025-08-31.
