Your Role

The section for testing basic aircraft systems belongs to the area of Basic Aircraft Systems and Flight Dynamics, which is part of Flight Testing and Verification. We currently have about 25 flight test engineers responsible for the basic aircraft testing of Saab's flying systems.

In your role as a flight test engineer, you will work with test-related issues in project form, where you are part of a development team and get to go all the way from the development phase to the final verified and validated product. You will, among other things, develop test methodologies and test programs, prepare and lead tests, as well as analyze and evaluate the results. In addition, troubleshooting and problem-solving of complex systems in aircraft with associated rigs will be part of your responsibilities.

The work involves a stimulating combination of theory and practical product-related work. We conduct testing of Gripen in a variety of test stations such as hardware rigs, simulators, and aircraft. All of this is done in close collaboration with system developers, pilots, subcontractors, and customers. Due to the great variety of tasks and different dependencies that we cannot influence, we are challenged in flight testing daily to quickly change focus and be flexible in our work on short notice.

In addition to Gripen, we also work with other aircraft such as T-7 and our future new aircraft. Several projects also take place internationally, which means there is an opportunity to work abroad for shorter or longer periods.

Your Profile

We are looking for someone who is flexible, analytical, and has a strong ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with others. You are someone who likes to take initiative, sees opportunities, and has a solution-oriented mindset. With a positive attitude and a desire to develop, you thrive both in team settings and independently. Whether you are a recent graduate with a strong drive to learn or have several years of experience in the field, we value your willingness to contribute to our operations. Attention to detail and structure are important qualities in this role, and you also have the ability to handle complex problems and adapt to new challenges.

Requirements:

• Master's degree or Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
• Good knowledge of Python, MATLAB, or similar tools, as data processing is a central part of the work.
• Ability to express yourself well in English, both in writing and verbally, as documentation is mainly done in English.

Experience in flight technical testing or system development is an advantage.

The position requires you to undergo and be approved according to the applicable regulations for security protection. For the position, Saab has requirements for security classification and Swedish citizenship.
