GIL has coordinated personal assistance since 1989. The cooperative has a legacy from the Independent Living movement, which is based on the principle that individuals with disabilities know best how they want to live their lives. Typically, the person entitled to assistance is the closest supervisor of the assistants, or a person with specific knowledge about the individual is appointed.

As a personal assistant, you support a person with a disability to live the life they want to live. To attract and retain competent and satisfied assistants, we invest in training and events. We believe that development and meeting others lead to motivated and secure assistants who enjoy and find it fun to work with us.

We are now looking for two assistants for a young man in Floda.

The positions are part-time at 50%, with working hours scheduled for evenings and every other weekend.

Working hours:
• Evenings: 16:00-21:00
• Weekends: 11:00-18:00

As an assistant, you will support the young man in his daily life. He is an active guy who enjoys music and singing. He also likes horseback riding and walks in his wheelchair. He communicates through body language and signs, and it is important that you are attentive to his signals and needs.

There may also be self-harming behavior, so we are looking for a person who is calm, secure, and can handle such situations in a professional and caring manner.

We are looking for someone who:
• Is attentive and observant of body language and signs
• Has an interest in working with people and creating meaningful activities
• Is flexible and responsible
• Has the ability to manage self-harming behavior with a calm and respectful approach
• Has a driver's license and access to a car

The position starts as a temporary employment, and if you get along well, the employment will transition to a fixed-term contract as long as the assignment lasts with a workload of 50%.

Previous experience in similar work is an advantage, but not a requirement.
