City Lawyer Wanted

We are looking for a city lawyer who wants to work broadly within the municipality's various legal areas. Here you will have the opportunity for a stimulating and responsible job in a municipality that is constantly growing and developing.

We are centrally located at the municipal management office. Our unit consists of a chief lawyer and a team of five city lawyers. Your work will partly be able to be done remotely.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As a city lawyer, you will work both strategically and operationally. You need to be a generalist and interested in most things, while also having the opportunity to work more specialized in certain specific legal areas. The legal issues vary in size and complexity, which places high demands on independence and flexibility. Here you will truly have the opportunity to continue developing as a lawyer.

To ensure the correct application of legal rules and regulations within the municipality, you will work broadly and assist committees and administrations with legal advice in municipal law and other public law, such as freedom of information and confidentiality legislation. You will prepare and review proposals for opinions and other documents such as governing documents and contracts. You will handle and present cases and represent the municipality in court and towards other authorities. Qualified investigative work and educational, developmental, and informational efforts will also occur.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone with a law degree and several years of experience in independent qualified legal work. You can express yourself very well in Swedish both orally and in writing and have the ability to explain complicated legal matters in a way that others can understand and apply. The role requires that you are prepared and competent to tackle both public law and civil law issues across various legal areas. It is particularly meritorious if you have experience working in environmental law and property law. The city lawyer we are looking for will handle cases related to assessment and supervision under the Environmental Code, health protection, and food, alcohol, and tobacco legislation, as well as issues related to land and development, rental, and other rights of use. Experience in litigation is an advantage. If you have already worked with legal issues related to municipal operations and municipal decision-making, that is certainly a plus.
