About us The Community Building division at RISE is growing in the field of Architecture and Urban Planning. We work with research and innovation to enable the transition to a sustainable society, particularly focusing on the development of designed living environments with a human-centered approach. In close collaboration with academia, civil society, business, and the public sector, we apply a systems thinking approach to urban planning issues related to reuse, mobility, public health, and biodiversity. Key areas of our work include how the design or planning process, that is, the architect's or planner's (digital) tools, can contribute to a sustainable transition.

About the role You will primarily work with a focus on urban development processes and challenges related to sustainability and/or digitalization. Your role includes developing research questions, conducting application work, building knowledge networks, and communicating results. Depending on your background, you will be employed as a project manager or researcher.

It is a creative, developing, and exciting job where you work closely with other researchers and specialists across many disciplines to discuss ideas and issues. The work requires a good ability to build professional networks and long-term relationships with public entities, companies, decision-makers, and other research institutes. The location for the position is Stockholm, where the rest of the unit is located, alternatively Lund or Gothenburg. Who are you? We are now looking for a driven, engaged architect or urban planner with at least 8+ years of experience. You have analytical skills, are driven, well-organized, and pedagogically skilled. You are motivated by developing projects and ideas together with others.

Further requirements:

  • Academic degree as an architect, planning architect, or landscape architect.
  • Several years of practical experience in urban development processes or applied urban planning, for example from a municipality or as a consultant.
  • Very good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written.

Meritorious:

  • Doctorate.
  • Experience with a multidisciplinary approach.
  • A strong network with actors working for sustainability in the construction and real estate sector.
  • Experience in applying for publicly funded research grants (e.g., from Vinnova or Formas).
  • Practical experience with digital analysis and modeling tools such as GIS, Revit, and CAD.
  • Experience with digital twin work.
