Treatment Pedagogue at SiS Youth Home Bergsmansgården

The Swedish National Board of Institutional Care, SiS, is an authority responsible for individually tailored compulsory care for children and adolescents and adults with substance abuse. SiS Youth Home Bergsmansgården will expand in 2025 and is now in the starting blocks to open a new satellite unit for non-compulsory school girls in Granhult near Ramsberg in Lindesberg Municipality. The Granhult unit plans to open a locked and an open department with a total capacity for eleven girls.

Job Description

Do you want to help create life-changing transformations for vulnerable people? Then the job as a treatment pedagogue at SiS is a meaningful challenge.

As a treatment pedagogue, you work in a team together with treatment assistants and treatment coordinators, and together you are responsible for ensuring that the young people and clients living with us receive the safety, care, and treatment they need. We often meet people in crisis, which means you work with qualified care and motivational work and provide support in everyday life. With the support of your knowledge in care and treatment work, you actively contribute to the implementation of treatment plans. Documentation is an important part of your work and contributes to legal certainty, planning, and follow-up of our operations. You contribute to maintaining safety according to our routines and help ensure that everyday life runs smoothly with schooling, cleaning, cooking, etc. Case management is also one of your tasks. The work may also include mentoring new employees and interns. This is a job for you who see a positive challenge in working with vulnerable people in difficult life situations. The job is often demanding but also stimulating, joyful, and varied.

Working hours are according to a schedule, including days, evenings, and weekends.

As a new employee, you will undergo SiS basic training for 10 weeks. The training combines theory with a guided introduction and prepares you for the therapist role in SiS operations.

Qualifications

To succeed in your work, you have a solid positive view of humanity. You are motivated to help people in vulnerable life situations, and you share SiS's values of being a place for change. Furthermore, you have a good ability to create engagement and participation among our youth. As a person, you are secure in yourself and can easily build relationships with young people as well as with others in the staff group. You have good communication skills and can remain calm even in pressured situations. You find it easy to collaborate with others and can handle conflicts constructively.

You should also have:

  • A degree from a 2-year post-secondary education at a folk high school or vocational college (KY/YH) with a focus on social/pedagogical treatment work or a degree from a university that we assess as equivalent
  • A valid driver's license (B)
  • Good Swedish language skills in both spoken and written form

Meritorious:

  • Experience working with people in vulnerable life situations, e.g., work in psychiatry or LSS care.

Employment:

The position is a permanent full-time employment that begins with a six-month probationary period. Start date according to agreement.
