About the Job

The Aviation Certification Section is responsible for regulatory development, licensing, and oversight within the field of aviation medicine, as well as licensing in the areas of aviation certificates and air traffic services.

The section also contributes with some support in the regulatory development work within these areas.

Job Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the section include issuing, renewing, and extending certificates, medical certificates, and authorizations, supervising aviation doctors and aviation medical centers, and developing regulations within the field of aviation medicine. The section is divided into a medical team and a certification team.

As an employee in the section and part of the medical team, you will come to a positive climate where we collaborate and support each other in our tasks. You will be part of a team of four colleagues with similar tasks and four aviation doctors. Much of the work is done in close collaboration with the aviation doctors, but also with the certification team and lawyers specialized in the section's area of operations.

The work involves contact points both externally and internally, where you will help us improve our quality and provide good service and information to license holders, private individuals, and other authorities.

You Will

As an important part of our oversight work, you will primarily work with reviewing aviation medical examinations conducted by aviation doctors both within the country and in other parts of Europe for holders of Swedish medical certificates or applicants for these permits. You will also participate with aviation doctors in the preparation, implementation, and follow-up of operational controls of aviation doctors. This position may involve some business travel.

You Must Have

  • a completed university degree or equivalent that the Transport Agency considers relevant
  • current professional experience in handling and reviewing medical information
  • experience working in public administration for at least 12 months
  • very good ability to express yourself well in both spoken and written Swedish
  • good ability to express yourself well in both spoken and written English
  • the ability to work concurrently in different IT environments.

It Is Meritorious If You Also Have

  • current experience in preparing and presenting decisions
  • experience reading and interpreting national or international regulations
  • experience conducting operational controls.

More Information

The employment is permanent with placement in Norrköping. Appointment according to agreement. We normally apply a probationary period.

As an employee with us, there is an opportunity to work remotely up to three days a week. The needs of the business and the nature of the tasks will determine whether and to what extent this is possible. An employment with us may involve placement in a security class. A security clearance with a background check according to the Security Protection Act (2018:585) may therefore be conducted. For some of our tasks in security class, Swedish citizenship is required.

About the Transport Agency

Number of employees: Approximately 2000.

Areas of operation: The Transport Agency works to achieve good accessibility, high quality, safe, and environmentally friendly transport within railways, aviation, shipping, and roads. We develop regulations, grant permits, and follow up on compliance. With the help of our registers, we work with fees, permits, and ownership transfers.

Locations: We have employees in 12 locations across the country. The largest part of the operations is located in Borlänge, Norrköping, and Örebro.

The Maritime and Aviation Department contributes to a competitive, environmentally friendly, and safe transport system. We do this by maintaining registers, developing regulations, assessing and granting permits, and exercising oversight. We also operate in many contexts on the international stage.

We are located in Norrköping, Gothenburg, Malmö, and Stockholm and have approximately 300 employees organized into six units and a staff unit.
