Uppsala Fire Service is a joint organization for the municipalities of Tierp, Uppsala, and Östhammar, operating on behalf of a joint rescue board. Uppsala Municipality is the host municipality for the rescue board. The fire service's activities aim to create a safe and secure environment for those living, working, and visiting the municipalities of Tierp, Uppsala, and Östhammar.

The fire service consists of over 400 employees, of which more than 60% are Emergency Personnel on Standby (RiB). The majority of employees work in the response teams. Uppsala Fire Service is part of a regional collaboration that includes 13 fire services.

Your Mission

You will be one of two unit managers responsible for the operations within the Department of Education and Technology. In your role as the education manager, you will have full responsibility for the unit's operations, staff, and finances. You will work with development and planning, but it is equally important that you enjoy working closely with your staff and supporting them in their daily operations.

Your unit is tasked with working on internal and external training. This includes the training field and services for education and exercises. You will have a team with broad expertise and a constant desire to develop.

The education unit frequently uses operational personnel as instructors, which means you will have close communication with personnel coordinators and other unit managers in the administration.

As the education manager, you will primarily be responsible for:

• development and prioritization of internal training initiatives to strengthen operational capability
• the operation of the Viktoria training field in Uppsala, as well as working on developing training opportunities in Tierp and Östhammar
• external training, which means ensuring that training is conducted with good quality. The training is primarily aimed at other departments within the municipalities.

The position is classified in a security class, and a security check with a background check will be conducted.

Your Background

We are looking for someone with leadership experience, preferably as a manager with personnel responsibility. You have several years of relevant work experience from fire services, other emergency services, or the Armed Forces. Leadership training is an advantage.

It is important that you have a strong interest in community issues and an understanding of the municipal mission, as well as an interest in working with equality and diversity. A valid driver's license (B) and good knowledge of Swedish in both spoken and written form are required. We value if you have previously been responsible for educational activities within the area of operations.

Furthermore, we want you to see the bigger picture and consider the broader perspective, as well as have the ability to make decisions based on available information and act accordingly.

About Our Organization

Welcome to Uppsala Fire Service. We are responsible for fire services, fire supervision, permits, and supervision regarding flammable and explosive goods, as well as information and training in fire safety in the municipalities of Tierp, Uppsala, and Östhammar. We are also responsible for chimney sweeping/cleaning and fire protection control in the three municipalities. We prepare documentation for the rescue board and follow up and implement the board's decisions.
