SiS Youth Home Vemyra, located outside Sollefteå, receives school-age boys up to 16 years old with psychosocial problems as well as criminality and substance abuse.

Job Description

Do you want to help create the vital difference for vulnerable people? Then the job as a treatment assistant at SiS is a meaningful challenge. The goal of your assignment is to motivate our youth towards new and less risky ways of living. As a treatment assistant, you ensure that the routines on the department function as they should. You play a significant role in providing stability and security for our youth and clients, and you are responsible for the basics of daily life such as schooling, cleaning, cooking, and more. You contribute to maintaining safety in the institution according to our routines, and documentation is an important part of your work. You will work on building secure relationships and help ensure that our youth/clients receive the safety and security they need to break ingrained behaviors. Together with your team of dedicated colleagues such as treatment pedagogues and treatment coordinators, you have the opportunity to achieve good results and contribute to change. The job is often demanding but also stimulating, joyful, and varied.

The working hours are according to a schedule including days, evenings, and weekends.

Qualifications

Your personal suitability is key to life-changing transformations. Therefore, you need to have a good ability to create engagement and participation. Equally important is that you have a solid positive view of people, great empathetic ability, and the capacity to build good relationships. You have good communication skills and can remain calm even in pressured situations. You also have the ability to collaborate with others and are willing to share your knowledge with colleagues.

To be employed as a treatment assistant, you must have:

  • Completed upper secondary education.
  • Completed upper secondary education refers to the following and applies to both vocational and higher education preparatory programs:
  • At least grade E in at least 2250 points from a program that is 2500 points.
  • At least grade E in the course Swedish 1 or Swedish as a second language 1.
  • At least grade E in English 5.
  • At least grade E in Mathematics 1.
  • Grade E in the upper secondary project.

Upper secondary qualifications obtained through adult education (Komvux) are also counted. Vocational training at Komvux must meet the above criteria to be considered approved. Old two-year upper secondary education programs are also counted as approved. There is no limit on which grade counts as passing for numerical grades.

  • B driver's license.
  • Good Swedish language skills in speech and writing.

Meritorious:

  • Experience in youth-related work.
  • If you have experience working with youth in vulnerable situations.
  • If you have training in MI (Motivational Interviewing).

To be employed as a treatment pedagogue, the following is also required:

  • Degree from a 2-year post-secondary education at a folk high school or vocational college (KY/YH) with a focus on social/pedagogical treatment work or a degree from a university that we assess as equivalent.
