Work as a Teacher in Vansbro Municipality

In spring 2017, Vansbro Municipality, together with other municipalities in Dalarna, initiated a collaboration with Dalarna University with the aim of increasing the number of qualified teachers in our schools. If you want to become a teacher, you have a unique opportunity to combine your studies with work. You can do this thanks to the work-integrated teacher education at Dalarna University. You combine education with work, which also gives you work experience in the profession.

The school in our municipality should be a place for development and learning. Students should leave school with good self-esteem, knowledge, and belief in the future. The school conducts teaching and pedagogical activities in ways that motivate, engage, and increase participation for all students.

In the municipality, there are Bergheden School F-6, Äppelbo and Park School years F-3 in central Vansbro, Smedberg School 4–9 in central Vansbro, Myrbacka School 4–6 in Dala-Järna, and Nederborg School F-3 in Nås.

Requirements for Employment

To be accepted into this combination of work and education, you must meet the requirements for both employment and studies, namely:

• Be accepted into the Basic Teacher Program or Subject Teacher Program 240 credits at Dalarna University.
• Have good knowledge of the Swedish language and the ability to communicate in speech and writing.
• Have good leadership skills and personal maturity.
• Have good collaboration skills and be relationship-building as well as quality-conscious.
• Have a good ability to handle challenges in a positive and solution-focused way.
• Have the ability to reflect on your own learning and development.

Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability.

Before employment, an admission notice and a valid extract from the Swedish Police Authority's criminal record must be submitted.

How to Apply

The application is divided into two parts: application to the Basic Teacher Program at Dalarna University and this application for the teaching position in Vansbro Municipality.

To Dalarna University

Basic Teacher Program grades 4–6 or Subject Teacher Program, work-integrated education at 75%. The education starts in autumn 2025.

Vansbro Municipality Offers You

The salary is at least 18,000 SEK per month. You can apply for student support from CSN. A standard employment contract will be written and renewed annually, provided that you meet your studies and commitments in school.

You combine your studies with work as a teacher in Vansbro Municipality and receive a salary throughout your study period. The employment consists of 50% teaching at the school and a study pace of 75% work-integrated studies. The education leads to a basic teacher's degree or a subject teacher's degree. After graduation, you can apply for a teaching license.

You will receive support and guidance in your role as a teacher throughout your study period. As a teacher with us, time for collegial learning is also included in your position. Quality development of the operations is an important part of our working method. As you develop, you will also receive increased responsibility in the teaching role. In your work as a teacher, you plan, implement, and evaluate teaching both individually and in collaboration with work teams and other colleagues. An important part of the work is to systematically follow the students' knowledge development.
