The Development and Management Unit 1, part of the IT department of the Swedish Transport Agency, is responsible for supporting the core operations within the Road and Railway departments as well as Vehicle Information. Our teams are organized around product areas with dedicated product owners who manage the backlog, while the team and its architects are responsible for the design and implementation of solutions.

As an IT architect at the Swedish Transport Agency, you play a central role in defining and driving the technical architecture for our systems. You ensure that we build scalable, secure, and sustainable solutions in accordance with the business needs and future requirements. You Will

be responsible for the technical architecture and drive the development of new and existing systems within the Swedish Transport Agency's IT environment.
create and further develop architectural principles, guidelines, and strategies.
collaborate with development team product owners to ensure that the architecture supports the business requirements and future needs.
participate in strategic technical decisions and guide the organization on best practices in system architecture.
consider security aspects such as data protection, access control, and secure coding.
ensure integration between different systems and technologies.
be part of the network of IT architects within the agency.

You Must Have

a university degree in IT or equivalent knowledge acquired in another way.
several years of relevant experience in IT architecture or equivalent tasks.
several years of relevant experience in designing and implementing architectures in complex IT environments.
experience in software development within the .NET platform and C#.
experience in database management with MS SQL.
good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written.

It Is Meritorious If You Also Have

architectural work within microservices and distributed systems.
DevOps and CI/CD pipelines.
integration technologies such as RabbitMQ and NServiceBus.
experience in security architecture and principles such as OWASP, authentication, and authorization.
automated build management and infrastructure as code.
experience in IT operations.

More Information

The employment is permanent with placement in Örebro. Start date by agreement. We normally apply a probationary period.

As an employee with us, there is an opportunity to work remotely up to three days a week. The needs of the business and the nature of the tasks will determine whether and to what extent this is possible. Employment with us may involve placement in a security class. A security review with a background check according to the Security Protection Act (2018:585) may therefore be conducted. For some of our tasks in security class, Swedish citizenship is required.

About the Swedish Transport Agency

Number of employees: About 2000.

Areas of operation: The Swedish Transport Agency works to achieve good accessibility, high quality, safe, and environmentally friendly transport within rail, aviation, shipping, and road. We develop regulations, grant permits, and monitor compliance. With the help of our registers, we work with fees, permits, and ownership transfers.

Locations: We have employees in 12 locations across the country. The largest part of the operations is in Borlänge, Norrköping, and Örebro. The headquarters is located in Norrköping.

The IT department consists of five units with associated sections. We are about 300 employees.

We support all departments within the Swedish Transport Agency both strategically and operationally in IT matters. We work with architecture, system development, management, and operation of IT systems as well as infrastructure.
