JOB DESCRIPTION
We are now looking for a special teacher for the adapted upper secondary school's individual program at Kungsmadskolan. The adapted upper secondary school is a 4-year program for students with intellectual disabilities (ID). The adapted upper secondary school consists of four national programs with about 65 students and an individual program with about 35 students. In the individual program, students are placed in age-integrated groups that vary in size and staff density based on the students' needs.
As a special teacher in the individual program, you are responsible for planning, implementing, evaluating, and documenting the teaching. Students in the individual program study six subject areas and can also take individual courses in a national program. Many students have, in addition to ID, other diagnoses such as physical and neuropsychiatric disabilities. As a special teacher in the individual program, you combine the student's development and learning with the care needs the student has, viewing all parts of the school day as an opportunity for development and learning. To meet the students' needs, it is important that you use a clarifying pedagogy and meet the students where they are.
You will be responsible for teaching a smaller group of students, working closely with the teaching assistants assigned to the group. You will guide and support the teaching assistants in their daily work with the students, and together you will collaborate on the students' knowledge development.
You will also meet regularly with other teachers and special teachers to develop the quality of education so that each student can progress as far as possible in their knowledge development and preparation for adult life.
QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for someone who is a qualified teacher and has furthered their education to become a special teacher with a specialization in ID or has otherwise become qualified to teach subject areas in the adapted upper secondary school. Even if you are interested in furthering your education but have not yet started your special teacher training, you are welcome to apply.
You have experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities, and it is advantageous to have a good knowledge of TAKK and clarifying pedagogy. To succeed in your role as a special teacher in the individual program, you need to have good collaboration skills and a strong commitment to the students you meet. You are a clear leader and confident in your professional role.
