Do you want to work on issues that are of great significance for Sweden's security and the development of total defense? The Ministry of Defence is now looking for a case officer for the Unit for Total Defence Planning and Development. Here you will work in a dynamic environment where you contribute with analyses, decision-making support, and development work on issues concerning civil defence.
Your working day. Sweden's tomorrow.
The Unit for Total Defence Planning and Development works to strengthen Sweden's total defence and civil defence. The unit brings together and drives development issues concerning the entire civil defence, such as supply readiness, personnel supply, and NATO's work on civil preparedness. Within the Government Offices, the unit is responsible for coordinating civil defence as well as coordination between military and civil defence. The unit is divided into two groups: the Supply Readiness Group and the Civil Defence Development Group.
As a case officer, you work on developing Sweden's total defence with a special focus on civil defence. The work involves analysing current issues, following up on results, and identifying areas for development and improvement, with a particular focus on enhancing capabilities within civil defence.
A large part of the role consists of producing qualified written materials and decision-making support for political leadership, often with short deadlines and high quality requirements. You handle both national and international issues. Part of the work also includes administrative tasks, such as administrative support to the division management.
The role involves close collaboration with colleagues within your own unit, other parts of the Government Offices, as well as agencies and other external actors. If necessary, you also participate in the division's work during societal crises.
Your background
We are looking for you who have an academic degree and work experience from investigative or case-handling work from a state agency or another politically directed organization that the employer considers relevant. You also have a good understanding of the security policy situation.
It is meritorious if you have experience from working in the Government Offices, experience working on issues within total defence or civil defence, and experience from development, steering, or follow-up work within public operations. Experience in qualified administrative work that the employer considers relevant is also meritorious, as well as knowledge of total defence and the structure and working methods of civil defence.
Your personal qualities
The Government Offices' employee criteria are holistic view, development, and results.
Everyone working at the Government Offices needs to have a holistic view and collaborate for the benefit of the operations. You are expected to contribute your perspective and competence and be open to others. You bring ideas and new approaches to improve and develop the operations and your own competence. You are results-oriented in your actions and adapt when needs and directions change.

You can prioritize and handle different tasks of varying importance simultaneously, and you have a good ability to produce high-quality materials under time pressure. You are good at collaborating, take initiative, and are flexible when conditions change.
Great importance will be attached to your personal qualities.
