The Department of Culture and Leisure is responsible for the municipality's libraries, cultural school, sports halls and sports grounds, open child and youth activities, grants to associations and study associations, cultural activities, Vårby Library with Barnkonsten, Fullersta Manor, art purchases, and distribution of grants and prizes in sports and culture.

About the job

As a recreation leader, your task is to be a safe and engaged adult who actively contributes to creating a secure, stimulating, and inclusive meeting place where young people can develop, socialize, and have fun.

The job is varied, with approximately 70% operational work in the activities and approximately 30% administrative work. Examples of daily operational tasks include building relationships with young people, involving and inspiring them to participate in various activities, promoting youth democracy, and ensuring the youth centre is welcoming and attractive to our visitors. Examples of administrative tasks include planning activities, contacting guardians, collaborating with schools, representing the activity in meetings, developing and administering social media and the "Ungdomsappen" (Youth App), and planning and being responsible for the working methods regarding MVP leisure.

Working hours during the day and evening on weekdays and weekends according to schedule. Our opening hours are currently Monday-Thursday 14:30-17:00, Friday 14:00-17:00, and evenings on Wednesday, Friday, and odd Saturdays 18:00-21:00.

About the workplace

Segeltorp Youth Centre is run by the Department of Culture and Leisure in Huddinge Municipality and is located in Segeltorp School. Our activity, which is run in an open format for upper secondary school-aged youth, 13-16 years old, is appreciated and well-visited. Here, young people can meet in a safe place with inviting hanging areas and safe adults. Activities offered include ping pong, billiards, video games, board games, crafts, baking, café, sports hall, quizzes, music studio, podcast studio, stage, and art atelier, among others.

Service is important to us. As ambassadors for Huddinge Municipality, we help our visitors in the best way possible. The youth centres within "Ungdom" collaborate with other operations within the municipality to provide a meaningful leisure time for the residents of Huddinge. During school holidays, we adjust our activities and work together with the other youth centres within "Ungdom", partly through joint activities and partly through outreach work with mobile recreation leaders outside the youth centre. Located at Segeltorp Youth Centre, four permanent staff members work along with several hourly employees. The unit manager is responsible not only for Segeltorp Youth Centre but also for Glömsta Youth Centre and Rådsparkens Djurparklek (Animal Park Playground).

About you

We are looking for someone who has:

• Documented experience working as a recreation leader at a youth centre or school, with the target group of youth aged 13-16, during the last three years.
• Relevant academic education as a recreation leader. Alternatively, other education that has provided equivalent competence, focusing on promoting work with youth and leading groups. E.g., teacher or social pedagogue.
• Very good language skills in Swedish, both spoken and written. Good language skills in English, both spoken and written.
• Good computer skills in the Office package.

Merits:

• Experience with MVP leisure, youth democracy, motivational interviewing, project management, the "Ungdomsappen" (Youth App).
• Professionally managing social media and Canva.
• Experience with studio technology, podcasting, or playing instruments.
• The desire to be physically active and participate in the movement activities conducted in the sports hall at the youth centre.
• Category B driver's license.
