Karlstad Airport is Värmland's largest airport, owned by Karlstad Municipality and Region Värmland. Approximately 35 employees work here today. Our goal is to provide the region with well-adapted air traffic for both businesses and private individuals, offering a good selection of regular and charter flights. Karlstad Airport has been designated as an emergency airport by the government, meaning we maintain 24/7 readiness year-round to open the airport for public service traffic.
Description
Karlstad Airport is a vital part of the region's infrastructure, and we work daily to deliver the highest level of flight safety, security, and service to our travelers. Do you want to work close to daily operations while developing competencies within the business? Then the role of Training Manager / Airport Officer might be for you!
About the role
In the role of Training Manager / Airport Officer, you work both operationally as an Airport Officer and as a Training Manager within the ramp and airfield areas.
As an Airport Officer, you are a key part of ensuring the airport operates safely and efficiently – year-round. Here, you work closely with both technology and people, including the operation and maintenance of airport facilities, loading and unloading of baggage, refueling, and de-icing. You also work with airfield maintenance and are part of the airport's fire and rescue team as an airport firefighter. Working as an Airport Officer involves shift work, including early mornings, late evenings, and weekend work. On-call duties during nights and weekends are also included.
As a Training Manager, you are responsible for planning, conducting, and developing training related to the ramp and airfield areas. By combining the role of Training Manager with practical work as an Airport Officer, you gain current and realistic understanding of working methods, risks, and needs – which is a prerequisite for creating and developing our training programs. In this role, you collaborate with our Training Manager for Fire and Rescue, where you jointly ensure that the training maintains high quality, meets current requirements, and is adapted to the business's needs. You will train both theoretically and practically within the operations.
Since you work in a safety-regulated environment, high demands are placed on personal safety awareness. This means it is crucial to report deviations and contribute to continuous improvements in operations.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience from ramp and/or airfield services at an airport.
- Thrives in an instructor role and is confident in training others.
- Has good pedagogical skills and can adapt the training level to the target group.
- Is accustomed to working practically in a safety-regulated environment.
- Is structured and interested in developing training materials.
- Understands the importance of documentation and compliance in training processes.
- Is solution-oriented, flexible, and has good collaboration skills.
- Is comfortable working digitally in a Microsoft 365 environment.
- Communicates fluently in Swedish and English.
It is meritorious if you have instructor experience from the aviation industry, experience with compliance, audits, or supervision, and knowledge of aviation regulations.
The position requires a Category B driver's license and Swedish citizenship.

During the recruitment process, a health check and practical assessments evaluating strength and fitness will be conducted.
The position is subject to background checks according to the Security Protection Ordinance § 14, as well as drug and alcohol testing. We place great emphasis on personal qualities. Probationary employment applies.
