The Technical Division operates its own business and consists of five operational areas: Streets/Parks/Harbor, Nyköping Water, Waste Management, Municipal Properties, and Meal Service. These are supported by a project department, an economics department, and an administrative staff. Approximately 400 employees work in the division, which has an annual turnover of over one billion SEK. Our clients are the Municipal Executive Board, the Environment and Urban Planning Committee, and the Culture and Leisure Committee.

Nyköping Water

Nyköping Water is responsible for all water and wastewater operations within Nyköping Municipality. This involves the operation, maintenance, and new construction of water and wastewater treatment plants, pump stations, and pipe networks. The operations include seven water treatment plants, three water towers, twelve wastewater treatment plants, 90 wastewater pump stations, a pipe network of 100 kilometers, and its own water laboratory. The operations cover the operation, management, and development of water infrastructure. As Nyköping is expanding, it is required that the water operations stay at the forefront with investigations and development.

Job Description

Welcome to our workplace where the core is laboratory work, but you are also offered a varied job with room for development and responsibility. Are you a quality-conscious and flexible laboratory engineer? Then you might be our new colleague in the water laboratory. We are seven people working in the water laboratory: manager, quality manager, laboratory engineers, laboratory technicians, and a laboratory assistant. We are now looking for a laboratory engineer.

As a Laboratory Engineer at Nyköping Water, you will primarily perform chemical analyses on drinking water and wastewater. Microbiological analyses on drinking water may also become relevant. There is also some handling and analysis of sewage sludge. In this position, you will go out in the field as water sampling is part of the job duties. Samples taken include drinking water, bathing water, groundwater, recipient water, leachate, and wastewater.

Since the laboratory is accredited according to ISO 17025, quality work, development, and documentation are important parts of your duties.

Main duties include:

• Sample handling, preparing solutions, and performing analyses
• Customer reception and registration of samples
• Quality work according to ISO 17025
• Checks, calibrations, washing, and cleaning

Qualifications

We are looking for you who:

• Have a university education with a focus on chemistry. (Other education or work experience that the employer deems equivalent may replace the education requirement).
• Have good computer skills and knowledge of Word and Excel.
• Have a B driving license.
• Have good ability to express yourself in Swedish, both orally and in writing.
• Can read and understand English.

Merits:

• Work experience in laboratory work.
• Experience with chemical/microbiological analyses, preferably water analyses.
• Experience working under ISO 17025, GMP, or similar quality systems.
• Experience with instrument/method validation.
• Experience as a responsible assessor for drinking water.
• Experience with LIMS systems.
• Experience with different types of water sampling.
